Job Description

The Role:

Management of the certification standards development and release processes, as well as the accreditation of certification bodies and auditors.  Support the operation of the assurance processes and manage the delivery of the technical training program.

Main Duties:

  • Managing the accreditation of certification bodies and auditors
  • Coordination of the standards development, consultation, and releases
  • Coordination of the translation of the certification standards
  • Communication of changes to the certification standards
  • Ensuring publicly available standards documentation, guidance notes and policies are kept up to date
  • Managing the delivery of the technical training program
  • Ensuring auditor documentation available and kept up to date
  • Support for the technical development and benchmarking of the standards; the assurance processes and responding to operational enquiries.
  • To work closely with the rest of the team and support all additional tasks as and when required

Qualifications

What we are looking for:

  • ·A degree level of education or ability to demonstrate several years of relevant experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work well in a professional manner with all stakeholders internal and external including internationally
  • Strong analytical mind and an inclination for establishing and following operational processes
  • Well organised, able to manage multiple concurrent streams of work and excellent attention to detail, as quality is core in everything we do
  • Proactive and a motivated self-starter
  • Must be able to work well in a small team with relevant software skills, including all main MS Office programs including strong MS Excel skills
  • Preferred to have project management experience
  • Preferred to have knowledge of sustainability standards, assurance and certifications processes
  • Preferred to have an interest in sustainability and materials

This is a newly created role and a great opportunity to join the small core Leather Working Group team working with international Auditors and Leather Manufacturers. The successful candidate will be integral in maintaining our standard-setting and assurance process. The right candidate will be a hard-working team player, keen to learn new skills whilst getting straight to work on current projects in a challenging yet rewarding environment.

Background to Leather Working Group:

Leather Working Group Ltd (LWG) is an international group of leather manufacturers (tanneries), brands and suppliers to the leather industry.  Their core focus is on driving continuous improvements within the global leather industry, through audit standards and projects.  The current membership base is made up of over 1,700 members and is continuing to grow as environment impacts and sustainability become more and more important to companies, as well as individuals.
