Job Description

Please note we require a consultant to join us 2 hours on a Monday for EQA review and validation of documents. Candidates will also need daily on call availability for review of abnormal results, clinical governance and blood films.

  • To contribute to continuous quality improvement and development of the biochemistry department, and to ensure that it operates according to ISO 15189:2012
  • To be available during standard working hours to give clinical advice all biochemical activities by telephone or e-mail to Eurofins County Pathology staff when required.
  • To visit the Eurofins County Pathology biochemistry department periodically and at least once a month (1 session of 3 hours) to give advice as to current procedures/validations etc.
  • To be present at and contribute to quarterly clinical governance meetings; approximately 1 hour per meeting. The meetings will be attended by all medical consultants working for or with, or consulting for, Eurofins County Pathology, and chaired by the clinical director.
  •  Review EQA reports
  • Advice when required when purchasing new analysers and methodologies.
  • Clinical sign-off of biochemical validation/verifications plans and reports.

Qualifications

  • Practicing registered and validated Consultant Chemical Pathologist.
  • A genuine interest in undertaking additional work within a small but ambitious private lab to support quality and results reporting.
  • Consultant grade, a specialist trained in Pathology.
  • Royal College of Pathology accredited and practicing.
