Job Description

Analysis and interpretation of NGS data. Development of custom pipelines for NGS projects and data handling with statistical analysis. Initially the role will be heavily focussed in data analysis of SARS CoV-2 genome sequencing.

  • To work in a team providing NGS data analysis
  • To ensure that all work is done in compliance with ISO 15,189 requirements
  • To ensure the all NGS data handling pipelines are accurate and cross checked with alternative analysis methods
  • To apply a systematic approach for the analysis of NGS sequence data and for the interpretation of variants and produce supporting SOPs, work instruction etc
  • Deliver presentations on NGS data and specific variant as required
  • To assist with training other staff in the use of NGS data analysis pipelines
  • Investigate concerns and queries regarding test results and methods, reporting back in a timely and accurately manner to laboratory staff, management and clients.
  • Analyse, interpret and explain specialist results
  • Provide accurate and well thought out solutions for problems and issues based on a strong theoretical and practical grounding.
  • Stay up to date with NGS industry news, and communicate internally as required.
  • Participate in and represent Eurofins at conferences and international symposiums.

Qualifications

  • Qualified to honours degree level in biosciences or related field.
  • To have a postgraduate degree MSc or PhD with substantial element of Next Generation Sequencing bioinformatics.
  • Experience working in Molecular Diagnostic setting providing NGS data analysis and sequence variant interpretation.
  • Experience in the use of NGS bioinformatic pipelines.
  • Experience in the field of human genetic disease.
  • Experience in analysing Illumina NGS sequence data.
  • Experience in variant analysis.
  • Experience in MS Office, Excel, R etc for data analysis, statistics and presentation.
  • Ability to interpret present and explain complex information.
  • Ability to analyse specialist results.
  • Excellent presentation, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational, multi-tasking and time management skills.
  • Committed to customer care.
