Job Description

The Role:

The allocation and delivery of customer test reports.  This will involve writing analytical reports and liaising with chemists to collate test data.  In addition supporting with the review and improvement of quality procedures that are implemented in the lab, for example, daily checks, AQC charts, validation reports etc.

Main duties:

  • Responsible for writing test reports and working with the testing team to deliver reports on-time or early where possible
  • Liaise with analytical chemists to collate analytical test data for all customer reports.
  • Check data for suitability and apply uncertainty of measurement/decision rules when appropriate.
  • Check the data against the customers' specifications to ensure suitability.
  • Writing test reports or liaising with our report writers to complete all test reports.
  • Allocate new testing work and ensure laboratory are aware of non-standard methods and requirements.
  • Identify where there may be problems achieving customer expectations and escalate when required.
  • Review and improvement of analytical laboratory quality procedures and documentation, which may include daily checks, AQC charts, validation reports, method development. (list does not include all laboratory quality procedures).
  • Will also coordinate with other report writers to achieve on-time or early delivery. 
  • Supporting the commercial team with technical enquiries from customers.
  • Performing any other reasonable duties to assist the testing team and the business.

Qualifications

What We Are Looking For:

  • Ideally a graduate with a chemical qualification or relevant experience working in a chemical testing laboratory
  • Strong understanding of analytical quality procedures and statistical analysis (where required)
  • Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with colleagues
  • Positive attitude with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment reflecting the high sample volume of this market-leading commercial laboratory
  • Adherence to the highest standards of precision, accuracy and record-keeping for maintaining our UKAS accreditation for a wide range of methods
  • Initiative and an ability to multi-task and plan work effectively to meet strict deadlines
  • Competence in using Microsoft Office software, word and excel essential
  • A flexible approach to working additional hours when required.
