The ideal candidate would be part of the San Diego R&D group to execute key innovation projects for driving excellence and quality in drug discovery services. Job responsibilities include cloning, cell culture, assay execution and cross-group support for large projects.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Execute, analyze and troubleshoot 384-well microplate biochemical assays measuring interactions between molecules and target proteins
  • Routine execution of cloning projects, from sequence verification to protein extraction and Western Blot analysis
  • Maintain mammalian cell lines (HEK293, CHO) following established SOPs
  • Routine expert operation of liquid handling robotics, Echo acoustic dispenser, automated plate readers, and qPCR instrumentation
  • Data analysis in Excel and Graphpad Prism
  • Participation in and presentation at group laboratory meetings
  • Good record keeping in electronic lab notebook following SOP
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • B.Sc. in biological or physical sciences and at least 3 years of relevant experience.

  • Experience in running assays in HTS, tissue culture and executing routine molecular biology projects is required. Experience with data management. Expertise in operating liquid handling robotics, Echo acoustic dispenser, and qPCR instrument.
  • Skilled in mammalian and bacterial cell culture. Skilled with data management and analysis software (i.e. Excel/GraphPad Prism or similar). Independent execution of standard cloning and molecular biology projects. Highly organized, efficient and able to multitask. Outstanding   oral  and written  communication  skills,  including  laboratory  notebook  policy adherence.
