Job Description

The Lab Assistant is primarily responsible for performing duties related to accessioning, specimen management, problem resolution, data entry, and specimen storage with a high degree of proficiency.

Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assist with sample receipt, order entry and specimen preparation, sample collection, and other lab activities as directed by Laboratory Manager
  • Support all lab operations and functions, including monitoring and requesting supplies and materials to place orders and maintain lab supply inventory
  • Maintain specimen inventory and tracking system
  • Record keeping and documentation to comply with QSR and corporate policies
  • Ensure maintenance and calibration of lab instruments and equipment
  • Unpack incoming samples and ship products as determined by Laboratory Manager
  • Utilize Laboratory Information System (LIMS) to assign accession numbers, enter orders and print instrument work lists or other lists as required
  • Create FedEx labels, use LIMS software to review patient order information against the requisitions received, and other lab activities as directed by Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS) or Management staff
  • Follow all company policies and procedures: general policies, Exposure Control, Chemical Hazard, Illness and Injury Prevention Program and Quality Assurance Program and understand the hazards associated with failing to follow those procedures
  • Perform and log routine daily, weekly and monthly maintenance and calibration of laboratory instrumentation according to protocol

Qualifications

 

  • High School Diploma
  • Must be comfortable with raw specimen handling
  • Ability to read, interpret, and comply with documents such as internal SOPs, operating and maintenance instructions, and company policies
  • Position may require evening and weekend hours
  • Authorization to work in the Unites States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
