Job Description

Tasks/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the Wireless RF laboratory
  • Responsible for the Wireless RF compliance of systems and provide technical guidance, review and analysis in areas related to Wireless RF verification and validation.
  • Supervise engineers to conduct testing in the compliance laboratory
  • Help wireless product manufacturers to navigate the complex process of complying with radio performance testing requirements and ensuring that wireless and radio frequency (RF) products are compliant, compatible, and reliable.
  • Responsible for setting up and executing tests, documenting results, and preparing reports. In doing so, applying custom testing solutions that utilize the latest technology and automation.
  • Testing solutions included: Federal Communications Commission (FCC) testing; European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) testing; Ministry of Internal Affairs and Comm Japan (MIC) testing; Innovation Science & Economic Development Canada (ISED) testing; Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) testing; Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) testing.
  • Operate testing equipment and perform diagnostic repairs on equipment as needed through reading schematics, troubleshooting, and interacting with Eurofins MET Labs technical support staff to resolve problems.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring for Wireless Group team members.
  • Do technical review for the sales team and provide them with quotes.
  • Provide assistance to GMA (Global Market Access) for their questions regarding wireless standards.

Reporting:

This position reports directly to the Wireless Department Manager

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline
  • 6+ years of experience in testing to FCC, IC and ETSI EMC /wireless standards
  • 4 year degree in a technical/engineering discipline and +3 years related experience.

Competencies:

  • Experience with regulatory test requirements including measurements of EIRP, PSD, OBW, in-out band emissions, spurious emissions, DFS.
  • Experience with 5m, 10m semi-anechoic chambers and screen rooms.
  • Experience with RF exposure analysis of MPE and measurement of SAR using DASY setup.
  • Experience with different lab equipment: network analyzers, signal generators, signal analyzers, call boxes (i.e. CMW), channel emulators
  • Experience with different wireless communication technologies such as GSM/GPRS/EDGE/LTE, 5G mmWave, etc.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills including the ability to communicate effectively in a group setting, with colleagues and clients
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet or exceed deadlines
