Job Description

OBJECTIVE:

Lead and develop the APAC biotherapeutic drug discovery business line to achieve P&L targets

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Discovery APAC Biotherapeutics Project Director is responsible for leading the Asia Pacific Biotherapeutics Research & Development strategy. This position is responsible for devising and implementing the strategy to extend Eurofins Discovery’s current biotherapeutics capabilities for Asia with the aim of positioning the company as a market leader in the Biotherapeutics research market. This role will involve working closely with a team of highly qualified scientists to establish the capabilities and expertise required to support large molecule drug discovery programs.

This leader’s objectives and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Work collaboratively with global and APAC business line leaders to develop, implement and execute a strategic plan to build and extend the APAC biotherapeutic drug discovery business line, including antibody, protein, peptide, cell, and/or gene therapies.
  • Manage multi-functional groups and responsible for the business line P&L.
  • Work directly with the commercial teams and provide proper supports, including technical services and scientific proposals. 
  • Work collaboratively with support functions to implement best practices that can improve productivity and efficiency of the team
  • Lead meetings with key accounts, and develop an in-depth knowledge of customer requirements through regular meetings.
  • Understands the market outlook, market segmentation, competitive assessment and able to prioritize opportunities. Keeps informed of the latest technologies for screening of biologics and advises on the future direction that Eurofins Discovery should take.

  • Hire, motivate, coach, develop and retain an excellent team.
  • Map out and qualify acquisition targets, and participate in M&A activities to serve the APAC biotherapeutic market growth.

Qualifications

PREFERRED PROFILE:

  • Over 20 years of working experience in CROs or large pharmaceutical companies with experience in establishing a business line in biotherapeutic drug development, ideally 1-2 years with full P&L responsibility.
  • Must have a Ph.D. degree in the biotherapeutics-related background (e.g. in biochemistry, pharmacy, immunology, oncology, molecular biology, and genetics, etc.)
  • Knowledge of the biotherapeutic discovery market; both from a customer and competitor perspective 
  • Practical knowledge of drug discovery and pre-clinical market exposure. 
  • Able to interact with the clients and actively bring in revenue.
  • Excellent laboratory skills and familiarity with common assay methodologies 
  • Knowledge of antibody library generation methods 
  • Demonstrated track record of scientific leadership
  • Fluency in English and 1 another Asia language is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Adjusts work hours as needed to meet client and company deadlines.
