This role will provide user and administrative support for laboratory based PC systems and will provide IT expertise in systems troubleshooting at both the Operating System level and the application level, building computer systems and working with the Application Vendors to ensure the software is operational and qualified..

This person must be able to work well in isolation or in a team structure and be comfortable with committing to and meeting realistic milestones.  They will have good communications and customer service skills, particularly for user support and proven skills for following procedures and test scripts.

• Working within the client IT and laboratory groups to ensure timely creation and execution of documentation pertaining to validation activities and lifecycle management in accordance with the client’s quality system and in line with the appropriate regulations. 
• Installation of hardware for specialist benchtop equipment and ensure that all equipment and software is used and maintained correctly.
• Liaising with the various vendors during installation phase and during the system’s lifecycle
• Liaise with external vendors in terms of scheduling qualification activities for more specialised equipment, pre-approving vendor documentation and hosting the vendor while on site.
• Management of the support queue to resolve service issues
• Support multiple time zones, cultures and remote troubleshooting as needed
• Maintain validated state for applicable instrument data systems.
• Maintain SOP’s and WIs for applicable instrument data systems.
• Provide training support for new and existing instrument data systems.
• To assist in deployment and configuration of IT System Projects with Expert Users.
• To analyse current operational procedures and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Contribute innovative ideas to support the client objectives
• To implement or modify procedures and/or processes to solve business issues considering alternatives and limitations, environment and desired results.
• To plan and prepare technical reports, memoranda, and instructional manuals as documentation of program development.
• To ensure that all documentation is completed on time, accurately and legibly.
• To keep their training records up to date and to initiate training where possible.
• To update any relevant documentation as required.
• To adhere to all company standards in the area of safety, housekeeping and quality, notifying management of any discrepancies.
• To handle any customer related queries where necessary and liaise with the team to solve these queries if needed.

Basic understanding of computer hardware building and maintenance such as:

• Hard drive additions and replacements
• Peripheral card installation and configuration
• Memory module installation
• Understanding of Windows operating systems and security permissions.
• Understanding of Active Directory and its implications to local systems
• Basic understanding of system development life cycle.
• Ability to learn new programming languages and systems quickly.

• Ability to learn the basic data handling needs of the laboratory and understand user requirements.
