Job Description

We are seeking a Laboratory Technician in the Process Chemistry High Throughput Screening (HTS) Group in Groton, CT. As part of CRD, the HTS group is responsible for the rapid screening of chemical reactions and data gathering to assist process chemistry in the production of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API). Laboratory Technicians in HTS assist client scientists in setting up and executing a wide range of experiments.  Setting up experiments will typically include weighing solids, dosing solvents and stock solutions using a pipettor, and preparing related samples for analysis by scientists.  Some of the experiments will require the use of a glove box and automated workflows involving robotic equipment.  The ability to closely follow written and oral instructions, high attention to detail, and thorough, detailed documentation are critical requirements for this position.


Employee Responsibilities:

  • Sample preparation as designed and directed by scientists.
  • Closely following design recipes and good laboratory practices for dosing both solids and liquid solutions/slurries.
  • Generating detailed documentation of conditions, amounts used and observations during sample preparation and executions.
  • Preparing and setting up samples on various laboratory instruments including but not limited to: UPLC/MS, GC/MS, and NMR.
  • Notifying scientist of various issues that arise when preparing or running samples or using automated equipment.
  • Sharing findings and observations with other team members.
  • Providing suggestions to scientists and other Laboratory Technicians for improvements regarding workflow efficiency.
  • Maintaining or developing general understanding of basic chemistry terminology and concepts.
  • Demonstrating learning agility and applying new knowledge and skills to advance workflows and the ability to work independently and within a team.

Qualifications

The Ideal Candidate would possess the following:

  • Ability to micropipette.
  • Ability to work in a laboratory environment performing experiments in a laboratory fume hood, and an ability to perform data analysis.
  • Familiarization with modern analytical tools and techniques.
  • Strong proficiency using various computer applications including, but not limited to: Word, Excel, ChemDraw, and Library Studio.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, with a strong preference for a Process Technology or Biotechnology Certificate, or an A.S. in Chemistry or related scientific field, or 3-10 of experience in chemistry laboratory roles or API Manufacturing operations with some experience in a laboratory setting.
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
