Job Description

EAG is looking for a chemist to join our St. Louis team. The ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate or have:

  • Expertise in GC-MS which includes:
    • Understanding of quantitative analysis, e.g. external calibration, internal standard calibration, standard addition
    • Analytical method development and validation experience
    • Familiarity with Agilent GC-MS instrumentation (e.g. 6890/5973 & 7890/5975, etc.) and software (i.e. ChemStation and MassHunter)
    • GC-MS experience with EPA methods 8260 and 8270 a plus
  • Design experiments with limited assistance from management and/or experienced scientists
  • Interpret analytical data from GC-MS instrumentation and apply understanding to solving a specific problem
  • Apply additional analytical data from techniques such as LC-MS, FTIR, NMR and ICP in solving a specific problem
  • Write scientific reports fit for the audience that includes specific conclusions, exact methodology, and supporting analytical data
  • Work comfortably in a fast-paced environment with firm deadlines
  • Maintain analytical instrumentation and troubleshoot problems when necessary
  • Author standard operating procedures and demonstrate the ability to follow procedures
  • Collaborate effectively in a team environment
  • Communicate constructively with other scientists and managers
  • Exhibit proficiency in Microsoft Office (Including Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)

Qualifications

  • M.S./Ph.D. in Chemistry
  • 2 to 5 years of industrial experience is required
  • Experience with GC-MS is required
