Job Description

  • Perform environmental and process monitoring sampling and testing (product, surface, water, etc.). This position is approximately 50% sample collection on the manufacturing floor, and 50% laboratory activities/processing

  • Sample collection and handling to ensure proper testing is performed

  • Reagent and media preparation

  • Maintains laboratory supplies, media, and reagents inventory

  • Perform microbiology testing such as cell count, Gram stain, growth promotion, etc.

  • Plating, centrifuging, accessing environmental chambers, all while maintaining and aseptic environment and eliminating contamination

  • Maintain, monitor, troubleshoot laboratory instruments such as: freezers, refrigerators, incubators, Biological Safety Cabinets, centrifuges, autoclaves, microscopes, spectrophotometers

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in microbiology, chemistry, biology or other related degree concentration, or equivalent directly-related experience (two years of directly related industry experience is equivalent to one full-time year of college in related major)

  • Ability to work in dry, hot, dusty environment

  • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE (i.e. daily uniform, safety glasses, and safety shoes) when necessary

  • Experience with microbiology techniques, aseptic technique, and good documentation practices—previous GLP or GMP experience preferred

  • Strong computer, scientific, organizational, and documentation skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude

  • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies

  • Previous work experience in or familiarity of ISO 17025 or ISO 9000 requirements

  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
