Job Description

DiscoveryOne™ is the integrated drug discovery and partnership program business unit that brings together Eurofins Discovery full suite of services under one managed program backed by the expertise, services and program management required to support its client's drug discovery projects. The DiscoveryOne™ integrated drug discovery service is a hand-in-hand partnership for the on-time delivery of a preclinical candidate at all phases. This is accomplished through integrated project management, deep scientific expertise and the broad in-house capabilities of Eurofins Discovery

The Head of DiscoveryOne will have responsibilities to include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Lead the DiscoveryOne™ business with responsibility for the budget and P&L for the DiscoveryOne Business Unit
  • Define and lead the global  strategy for  DiscoveryOne™
  • Develop and direct DiscoveryOne™ client’s programs by supporting the design of the program with the customer to achieve their drug discovery needs.
  • Utilize the full suite of services within Eurofins Discovery; chemistry, screening and lead optimization through pre-clinical with the team of international program managers to fulfill the client’s needs.
  • Develop the DiscoveryOne™ commercial strategy working with the marketing and sales teams.
  • Quote and oversee the proposal development for large accounts.
  • Insure client engagement and satisfaction.
  • Develop the commercial strategy working with the marketing and sales teams..
  • Collaborate with the global business development team to engage clients and design programs that achieve their goals.
  • Manage the DiscoveryOne™ project pipeline working with business development to progress opportunities
  • Oversee, direct, coordinate and prioritize the daily activities of the DiscoveryOne Business and the assigned team.
  • Hire the best talent to be part of DiscoveryOne and motivate, develop and retain excellent staff and make sure the essential training is performed. Conduct performance review of managers and help them set-up and achieve performance goals
  • Maintain and improve quality of DiscoveryOne customer projects, review trends and initiate root cause analysis if necessary and oversees implementation of recommended corrective actions, monitoring that changes yield expected results
  • Listen to customer feedback, translating it into solutions, improvements and new requirements to develop and extend DiscoveryOne services
  • Set up customer centric Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) goals to monitor costs, quality, TAT and other pertinent metrics to aid the progress and success of the operations.
  • Be “hands on” in running the DiscoveryOne business.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and trade shows, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional organizations when applicable
  • Use and continually develop leadership skills
  • Adhere to site employee health and safety (EHS) regulations

Qualifications

The ideal candidate would possess:

  • Experience in drug discovery to the level that can support development of the customer’s drug discovery program
  • Experience working with and collaborating with an extensive, international leadership team
  • Experience working collaboratively with customers
  • Strong computer, scientific, organizational and project management skills plus strong communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently, potentially remotely, and as part of a team,
  • Is self-motivated and adaptable
  • Ability to learn new techniques, performs multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies

 

Basic Minimum Qualifications:

  • Higher education degree in a related field is required, preferably in Chemistry or Biology, but not necessary; Master’s in Business Administration is highly desirable
  • Minimum of three to five (3-5) years of experience, managing drug discovery teams
  • > 5 years Drug Discovery Project Management Experience
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
  • Ability to travel internationally

Additional Information

Position is full-time, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., with additional hours as needed. 

Position location is flexible; with site locations in Fremont, CA, San Diego, CA, and St. Louis, MO. Position may be remote based as well.
