Job Description

  • Prepares and maintains documentation to ensure that applications can be maintained and recovered. These include System Descriptions/Configurations, Quality investigations, User/Technical manuals, checklists, SOPs, Scripts, Testing, Policies and Procedures to Quality standards. In addition, maintain a comprehensive knowledgebase of support resolutions.
  • Understand the business domain and provide a proactive, professional support service for applications such as back office and process support business systems, Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), Laboratory Analyzer Applications, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Reporting, Databases, Interfaces and associated related peripherals such as Scanners, Printers, and Label Printers.
  • Proactively monitor all core business application including related system event, logs, and alerts.
  • Provide professional support by creating and progressing any 1st and 2nd line Incidents/Problem management requests, including root cause analysis/ incident investigations, swarming on problems, liaise with ICT staff and third parties to ensure the prompt resolution of all requests in line with Quality compliance and IT Service/Operational Level Agreements through to ticket closure, ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain ticket updates with accurate notes on current status. Provides regular updates to the business in resolving all application and relevant system related issues.
  • Create productive relationships by working closely with stakeholders, technical staff, liaise with vendors, colleagues and contacts from others teams to ensure timely and efficient resolution of incidents/problems and prompt implementation of changes in line with Quality compliance and IT Service/Operational Level Agreements.
  • Support the change and risk management process including appropriate documentation, change control, back-out plans to ensure optimal Quality Assurance for all applications.
  • Support the building of new test and production environments. Execute smoke/sanity, system testing to ensure implementations & changes are successful. Work with colleagues to ensure that interfaces with other applications and third party products work.
  • Responsible for Application related hardware and application software implementation and upgrades; managing the safe introduction of new applications, upgrades and changes to existing applications. Plan and ensure effective companywide end user communication.
  • Provide system administration by co-coordinating requests for granting & revoking access within agreed parameters to systems and information; ensuring compliance with all IT Security/Data Policies, Procedures, standards, regulations and guidelines.
  • Serve as an internal consultant to stakeholders and technical team as needed by providing research, recommendations on application and database configuration & mmanagement to ensure the optimum application performance and capabilities that meet the business needs.
  • Regularly implement and document application level disaster recovery testing, to ensure a secure environment that protects the integrity and availability of information.
  • May participate on project teams, in audits and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Share and distribute knowledge, information with other team members and throughout the company.
  • Keep confidential all staff, client, data and company proprietary information.

Qualifications

Experience and Skills required

  • Ability to learn and master new business-specific software and processes.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years’ experience working in an application support role with ITIL.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills to diagnose & resolve incidents and problems.
  • Self-organizing, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Critical thinking skills with complex problem solving ability.
  • Excellent Customer Service and Vendor relationship management experience.
  • Hands-on experience working with IT Hardware and Software including Networking, Windows Operating Systems, Windows Server, Terminal Server, RDS, database management (Microsoft SQL/Oracle), Scripting Tools e.g. PowerShell & application configurations.

Education

  • Degree in Computing and or IT discipline, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience is required.

Other

  • Familiarity and work experience in the Life Sciences sector is advantageous.
  • Provides on-going troubleshooting, support, and maintenance of applications including periodic standby shift (rotating within the team). Providing assistance and cover for other team members where required; self-organizing to maintain an effective global on-call rotation for 24/7 support. Flexibility as responsibilities will require occasional evening and weekend work.
  • Effectively communicates within all levels of the organization to ensure role & project success, both excellent written, spoken English with ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience. Local language depending on laboratory location.
  • ITIL foundation certification is preferable.
  • Positions in this classification may perform all or some of the responsibilities above and may perform other related duties as assigned.

Additional Information

Position is full-time, Monday- Friday, 8am-5pm.
