Job Description

Chemist responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Perform routine sample preparation using wet chemistry techniques, and smoking machines for tobacco products

Perform analytical testing of tobacco using LC/LCMS and other ancillary laboratory equipment

Perform all lab work with high degree of accuracy and precision

Document results accurately in notebooks and computer systems

Read, understand, and interpret analytical procedures, update procedures as needed

Perform instrument calibration, recognizes errors, identifies root causes, applies process improvements

Review and verify data

Communicate effectively with client staff members

Qualifications

Basic Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in chemistry, biology, or other related degree concentration, or equivalent directly-related experience (2 years of directly related industry experience is equivalent to1 full-time year of college in related major.

 

The ideal candidate would possess:

  • 1-2 years working with HPLC
  • Experience in a cGMP and ISO 17025 environment
  • Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of chromatography, experience with Empower or Chromeleon software helpful
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude
  • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies

Additional Information

Position is full-time, Monday-Friday, 8:00a.m. - 5:00p.m., with overtime as needed.  Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Winston-Salem, NC are encouraged to apply.
