Job Description

Metrologist responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following :

· Perform qualifications on instruments that are not located in laboratories controlled by Lancaster personnel

· Perform and document qualifications on laboratory instrumentation (i.e. HPLC, GC, KF, UV-Vis, etc.)

· Perform urgent/priority repairs including user accessible consumables (i.e. lamps, pumps, seals, tubing, etc.)

· Development pipette PMs, calibrations and repairs

· Verify system readiness for open access instruments

· Execute scheduled and post-maintenance instrument qualifications

· Troubleshoot routine instrument issues (limited to calibration issues)

· Assist in testing activities during instrument upgrades

· Report on metrics and appropriately document service on instruments

· Escort vendors on-site to perform maintenance activities on instruments on contract

The ideal candidate would possess :

· Relevant experience in a laboratory setting

· Basic competency with laboratory instrumentation

· Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills

· Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude

· Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies

Qualifications

Basic Minimum Qualifications :

· Bachelor's degree in physical science (chemistry, physics, etc.), or other related degree concentration, or equivalent directly-related experience (two years of directly related industry experience is equivalent to one full-time year of college in related major)

· Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship

Additional Information

Position is full-time, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., with overtime as needed.  Candidates currently living in a commutable distance to Indianapolis, IN are encouraged to apply.
