Job Description

Eurofins Lancaster Laboratories, a nationally recognized laboratory, is searching for a Functional Bioassay Associate Group Leader to support our Professional Scientific Services group in Burnaby, BC.  This is a permanent, full-time position.

Supervisory Component (20%)

  • Lead and manage a team of 2
  • Create and drive a positive, inclusive, success-oriented, high performing team
  • Track and monitor team performance using internal and external metrics
  • Implement employee development opportunities including career growth, technical growth, leadership growth, and facilitate peer-to-peer cross training
  • Identify and resolve service and personnel problems in a timely manner
  • Escalate service and personnel problems, as needed
  • Timecard approvals, time off approvals, and other related administrative tasks
  • Collaborate with and report to area leadership

 Technical Component (80%)

  • Perform functional cell-based bioassays using mammalian cell lines
  • Culture mammalian cells using aseptic sterile technique
  • Develop, optimize, and validate assays that may include ELISA, flow cytometry, apoptosis, cytokine release, phosphorylation, or proliferation.
  • Conduct batch testing
  • Document, analyze, and report results
  • Author, review, and data verify technical documents and reports

Qualifications

Basic Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, or related scientific field 
  • At least 1-2 years of industry experience MANDATORY

The ideal candidate would possess:

  • Creative scientific thinking for quickly developing technical solutions
  • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instructions, and comply with company policies

  • A self-motivated desire for team and department success
  • An understanding of BC labor laws including interpretation and best practices
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) in English

The successful candidate must be able to travel to the U.S. for onboarding and training in Q42019.

Additional Information

Position is working at client's site full-time, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., with overtime as needed. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Burnaby, BC are encouraged to apply.
