Job Description

Position Title: Manager (Software Development)

Reporting To: Program Director

Reporting Location: Europe

Working Location: Bangalore

Overall Objectives: The position shall manage the Software Development team in India, to develop a high quality IT Solutions (example: Automated LIMS, Ecommerce, Windows applications etc..) for one/more of the key businesses in Eurofins. The primary objective of this role is to build the development team in India & establish clear objectives between onsite and offshore team, to manage the deliverables. While the development team shall hold the responsibility of delivering their tasks, the development manager owns the ultimate accountability for the development of the product.

Primary Responsibilities: The role is required to:

1. Deliver the software product as per the scope of the program. He/She will team up with and report to Onsite Program director, and understand the key requirements and scope of the project.

2. Recruit and manage a team of Technical Leads, Developers and build strong software development teams. Be part of design and release discussions with relevant stakeholders.

3. Apply best practice professional principles, processes, and techniques (according PMO guidelines) to lead project teams and control project schedule and performance risks to ensure satisfied customers. This role has ultimate responsibility for all assigned projects and manages customer satisfaction, definition, planning, monitoring, and others aspects of a project.


4. Implement Agile methodology, namely SCRUM (in its entirety), to provide incremental shipment as per the release plan.

5. Organize and facilitate project planning, daily stand up meetings, reviews, retrospectives, sprint and release planning, demos and other agile project related meetings. Manager may not lead some of these meetings; however the ultimate accountability to implement these will be with Manager.

6. Ensure the development teams are practicing the core Agile principles of collaboration, prioritization, team accountability, and visibility.

7. Establish clear ownership for tasks, ensure that team members have the tools needed, and provide timely feedback.

8. Report (or contribute in preparing the status report) to Project Steering Committee as per the schedule.

9. Prepare quarterly calibration performance reports & conduct annual appraisal for the team members.

10. Establish harmonious working relationship with global support offices, such as Enterprise Architecture office, Program Management office, and Quality assurance office, to enable the implementation of the global processes in the team.

Required Experience:

 Overall 12+ years in experience in IT Application/Software Development field in Microsoft Technologies preferably with WPF, MVVM/Prism, WebAPI / WCF Restful and SQL Server stack with SOA.

 At least 3+ years of Project Manager or Development Manager Experience in an IT Product company. Should have been part of at least 3 complete lifecycle implementations.

 Exposure working with Europe or US Customers / Projects is mandatory.

 Highly assertive and ability to drive the onsite teams to seek information or clarification.

 Self-Managed and highly independent.

 Good understanding of creating/monitoring/reporting tasks in TFS is highly preferred.

 Good understanding of any LIMS implementation is highly desired.


 Bachelors or Masters in Engineering, or equivalent degrees preferred. Diploma holders will also be considered along with relevant work experience.

 Certified Scrum Master preferred.


 Ready to travel outside India (10%)
