Job Description

As a Synthetic Flight Instructor, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality, standardized training that supports the qualification, development, and ongoing proficiency of our flight crew.

Working within a regulatory-approved training environment, you will be responsible for delivering simulator and ground training in accordance with General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) requirements and Etihad Airways standards. Leveraging your operational aviation experience and instructional expertise, you will contribute to maintaining the highest levels of training effectiveness, safety, and regulatory compliance while supporting the professional development of our pilots.

Accountabilities

  • Deliver simulator and ground training in accordance with approved lesson plans, courseware, company procedures, and GCAA regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure all training delivery meets operational, regulatory, and company standards.
  • Conduct training programmes supporting pilot transition, recurrent, and type rating requirements.
  • Monitor pilot performance throughout training programmes and provide guidance, coaching, and constructive feedback to support successful learning outcomes.
  • Identify pilots requiring remedial or additional training and recommend appropriate development actions.
  • Assess pilot performance and recommend progression, additional training, or intervention where required.
  • Work closely with Crew Training Management to address training-related matters and support pilot development initiatives.
  • Ensure all training records, reports, and associated documentation are accurately completed and maintained in accordance with regulatory and organizational requirements.
  • Adapt instructional techniques within approved training programmes to optimize learning outcomes and support individual pilot development.
  • Contribute to the development, review, and continuous improvement of training programmes, lesson plans, and courseware.
  • Escalate concerns relating to pilot performance, training deficiencies, or operational risks to Crew Training Management.
  • Promote a strong safety culture by supporting regulatory compliance, risk awareness, and continuous improvement across all training activities.

Qualifications

  • Qualified as a Synthetic Flight Instructor (SFI) and/or Synthetic Flight Examiner (SFE).
  • Hold, or have previously held, a valid Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) in the relevant aircraft category.
  • Possess a minimum of 1,500 flying hours on multi-pilot aircraft.
  • Previous instructional or training experience within a commercial airline environment is preferred.
