Job Description

Synopsis

The Senior Manager Cabin Development is responsible to lead and oversee strategic technical programs for the development and delivery of Etihad’s future generations of cabin interiors. This position is accountable for ensuring that all technical requirements set by Etihad are comprehensively addressed and delivered throughout the product development lifecycle. Additionally, the Senior Manager actively directs the Cabin development team to systematically manage relationships with Cabin Interior Suppliers to ensure that all interior products are delivered according to defined specifications, quality standards, and within allocated budgets and established timelines. 

Accountabilities

•    Ensure that Technical Standards and Specifications for all new product developments incl. Seats, Cabin Interiors, Systems and Galleys are being established and agreed with Etihad stakeholder requirements. Ensure that the team applies consistent methods to optimize products in terms of functionality, operational reliability, weight, life cycle cost and superior innovative product technology. Manage requirement changes and maintain an overview of all product changes throughout the development cycle incl. the impact to weight, cost and schedule.
•    Lead, coach, motivate & develop the Etihad Technical Product Development team. Ensure consistent Project and Risk Management methods are applied and continuously developed in the team. Ensure successful delivery of Cabin Interior development programs in terms of compliance to specification, Etihad quality standards and schedule.
•    Lead Cabin Programme Managers by assigning their Projects. Set Performance Objectives in accordance with Etihad’s Performance Management process and review progress on quarterly basis.
•    Ensure that regular, effective project review meetings are performed and that development projects progress to agreed schedules. Provide meaningful reports to Etihad Management on a regular basis.
•    Manage relationships with external stakeholders such as Cabin Design Organizations, Aircraft Manufacturers and Etihad suppliers. Ensure that the team maintains a constant dialogue with suppliers and understands supplier capabilities and capacity constraints. Identify new suppliers and market trends that Etihad can leverage for new product developments.
•    Develop team capabilities in terms of skill, processes and procedures for the execution of Technical Development Projects to ensure Etihad maintains an industry leading position.
•    Ensure that the Technical Development team receives the necessary trainings and maintains the qualifications to comply with Airworthiness Authority and Etihad Quality & Safety requirements.
•    Plan and manage the Budget for Technical Product Development related cost.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Education:
•    University degree or equivalent qualification. Formal project management qualification preferred.
•    Knowledge of Aviation Regulations (GCAA CARs, ICAO, IOSA, etc.)
•    Knowledge of Safety Management Systems (SMS)
•    Formal training in airframe and cabin equipment, project management and/or aircraft specific type courses is preferred. 
Experience:
•    10 years job-related experience in the field of Technical Commercial Aviation, Airline Engineering and/or Product Development.
•    Experience in the development of aviation products, Project Management and technical contracts / procurement. Working in a multi-cultural environment and delivering multiple projects simultaneously.
