Job Description
The Group Accountant is part of the Group Reporting team and supports the delivery of accurate and timely financial reporting across the Group. Working within a collaborative and experienced finance team, the role contributes to the preparation and analysis of monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts, and statutory reporting deliverables.
The Group Accountant works closely with the Senior Group Accountant, Group Finance Manager, Head of Group Reporting and other members of the finance function to ensure consistent application of accounting standards, process efficiency, and high-quality reporting. The role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively within a global team environment.
Role and Responsibilities
Group Reporting
- Prepare subsidiary month-end submissions in the group reporting system.
- Assist in preparing consolidation adjustments and support review of top-level consolidations.
- Prepare variance analysis and commentary for inclusion in monthly management reports.
- Maintain accuracy and consistency of data in Prophix and other reporting tools.
- Assist in preparing UK GAAP-compliant financial statements for selected subsidiaries.
- Prepare and post monthly journals as required for group entities.
- Support the preparation of Group IFRS Annual and Interim Reports, including liaison with auditors and internal stakeholders.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Support the preparation of quarterly budgets and forecasts for SG&A functions.
- Consolidate departmental submissions and assist in preparing presentation materials for management.
- Perform variance analysis against budget and forecasts and assist in discussions with department heads.
Treasury
- Support treasury-related activities, including preparation of cash flow forecasts and monitoring of bank balances
- Assist in preparing documentation for debt covenant compliance.
- Support banking administration (mandates, credit exposure tracking, and reporting).
Qualifications
ACA or ACCA qualified, or part-qualified with relevant experience
Experience in a finance or audit role within a multinational or audit firm; working knowledge of IFRS and group reporting; experience with Prophix or similar systems is an advantage.
