Job Description
The Pathway Home Career Advisor provides pre-release and post-release workforce and reentry services to justice-involved individuals preparing to transition back into the community. This position supports participants through career planning, employment preparation, case management, and supportive services coordination to help individuals successfully obtain employment, training, and long-term stability. Work is performed in correctional facilities, detention centers, NCWorks Career Centers, and community settings, with flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and multiple office locations as needed.
- Recruit, enroll, and guide eligible participants through program services within correctional facilities and community settings.
- Assess participant work history, education, skills, abilities, and barriers to employment while helping participants identify solutions and career pathways.
- Develop individualized employment and service plans focused on short and long term employment, education, training, retention, and self-sufficiency goals.
- Provide career advising, employment readiness coaching, resume assistance, interview preparation, job search support, workshops, and referrals to community resources and supportive services.
- Maintain regular contact with participants to support job readiness, employment retention, advancement, and ongoing program participation.
- Coordinate with employers, correctional facilities, NCWorks partners, educational institutions, and community organizations to connect participants with employment, training, and supportive services opportunities.
- Maintain information on local employers, workforce resources, training opportunities, and community services available to participants.
- Participate in and/or host job fairs, hiring events, and workforce outreach activities.
- Maintain accurate participant files, case notes, data entry, attendance records, retention tracking, and required program reporting in compliance with program requirements.
- Any additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate degree from an accredited college or university in workforce development, social work, criminal justice, public administration, human services, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education, work experience, and lived experience.
- One to three years of experience in workforce development, reentry services, case management, counseling, or related programs is preferred.
- Knowledge of or experience working with justice-involved individuals and understanding the challenges associated with incarceration and community reentry.
- Some local travel may be required.
- Familiarity with the communities being served and available local resources.
- Excellent communication, computer skills, customer service, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work effectively with participants, correctional staff, employers, and community partners.
