Job Description

The Senior Manager of Financial Reporting and Compliance, is a key position within our Finance team.  This individual will lead the quarterly and annual financial reporting process for Equinox including the consolidation of Variable Interest Entities.  Further, this roll will provide proactive analysis on accounting changes and proposed implementation strategies.  In addition, this individual will perform certain tasks in the preparation for quarterly investor calls and audit committee meetings, management’s discussion and analysis, share-based compensation calculations including valuation of share price (in conjunction with outside firm) and ad hoc research projects and transactions as they arise. 


The candidate will be able to develop and maintain smooth, cooperative working relationships with all levels in the Company. This individual will be eager to learn, is organized and possesses excellent communication skills. 


This position will report directly to the Senior Director of Financial Reporting and Compliance at the Company’s corporate headquarters located at One Park Avenue

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The quarterly and annual financial reporting process
  • Assistance in preparing appropriate materials for investor call and audit committee meetings at the Parent level and board of director meetings
  • Consolidate non-owned sister company brands whom meet the definition of a variable interest entity
  • Must be able to understand the intent and provide meaningful information to the users of the financial statements
  • Lead the preparation of quarterly share-based compensation calculations and maintaining stock option program agreements/records for various plans within our cloud-based solution for equity plan management
  • Perform key functions in the consolidation process, including various brands and international subsidiaries
  • Ensure financial reports are compliant and contain appropriate disclosures
  • Research technical accounting guidance and prepare analysis, as directed by supervisors
  • Primary contact with external auditors during the annual audits and quarterly reviews by preparing schedules and providing supporting documentation
  • Participate in preparation of management’s discussion and analysis including key metrics of the business.  Reach out to key partners within the business to ensure accurate and up to date information is included in our reporting
  • Opportunity for involvement in financial transactions
  • Respond to inquiries from executives and parent on a timely basis
  • Adhere to parent driven timelines and reporting packages on a quarterly basis
  • Prepare ratios and other types of analytics to assist users of the financial statements, when needed.
  • Able to work and partner effectively with other departments, such as General Counsel, People Services, Accounts Payable, Tax, Real Estate, Treasury, Financial Planning & Analysis and external third parties
  • Manage team members as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting
  • Approximately 5-7 years of experience in accounting and financial statement preparation
  • CPA required (active)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX, Hyperion and Shareworks, a plus
  • Self-motivated, proactive thinker with ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload
  • Work both independently with limited supervision as well as in a team environment
  • Able to handle pressure and short deadlines with a positive attitude
  • Exhibit willingness and ability to learn, adapt and improve the environment
  • Strong analytical and communication skills 
  • Career-minded and goal-oriented person who can see challenges as an opportunity for future advancements
