Job Description

As the DevOps Engineering Manager, you will build and lead a team that covers project work, site reliability engineering, development tools, release management, and overall performance.  In your role, you will proactively contribute to solutions that diminish operational issues, help application developers build highly scalable applications, and architect infrastructure as code to gain efficiencies and increase productivity across all Equinox initiatives.  You will own the project roadmap for your team and balance operational support and regular releases with ongoing project work.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work within the Consumer Technology division to oversee all aspects of DevOps/ProductOps
  • Own the product and release cycles, developing and contributing to the process and tools
  • Recruit, build, and lead a team of DevOps engineers, balanced between application support, release management, and project work
  • Own the configuration and escalation process for monitoring and alerting
  • Own development, release, and CI/CD tools
  • Own and maintain playbook for support purposes
  • Own and evangelize DevOps, scalable application development, escalation, and support procedures
  • Be knowledgeable about security principles and practices and enforce, when needed  
  • Develop and maintain appropriate benchmarks for load testing and performance optimization
  • Weigh in, educate, and be the advocate for scalable and maintainable architectural decisions
  • Build and maintain relevant technical diagrams and DevOps dashboards
  • Partner with organizational infrastructure and security teams to assure compliance
  • Partner with QA, Product, AppDev, and other tech teams to reduce support, find efficiencies, increase performance, and educate on best practices
  • Own the products and projects for all DevOps resources

Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • 6+ years of relevant experience as a DevOps engineer
  • 2+ years in a lead/management position, running systems in a large-scale AWS environment
  • Expertise in all things AWS (EC2, RDS, SQS, SNS, S3, Lambda)
  • Experience architecting containerized environments for micro-services
  • Familiarity with essential Docker tools
  • Expert in configuration management for a CI/CD environment using Jenkins / Ansible
  • Strong understanding of cache configuration design and management (Redis or Memecached with CDN)
  • A philosophical approach to automate away from manual efforts
  • Experience profiling and optimizing application and database performance 
  • Experience with Python, Java, Go, Perl, and/or .NET
  • Developed and executed plans and testing for Disaster Recovery
  • The ability to effectively communicate, problem solve collaboratively, and build consensus across teams
  • Experience working in an agile environment
  • The ability to prioritize, estimate, and oversee project work balanced with ongoing support
  • A strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • A passion for technology, learning, and finding the best solution

PREFERRED

  • Experience with mobile as well as IoT applications
  • Practical experience with ELK logging configuration
  • Familiarity with Atlassian’s suite of tools (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket) 
  • Experience putting together operational budgets and projections
  • A proponent of open source tools
  • Experience partnering with both on and off-shore teams
