Job Description

The Director of Renovations is directly responsible for the oversight and development of commercial interior projects as well as contributing to the brand direction and innovation. This involves an immersion into the brand standards and history as well as active management of new developments from conception to final photography.

This will be a highly talented, motivational, engaging hands-on position that possesses strong interior architecture abilities, construction methodologies, business financial acumen and a proven successful track record in delivering high-end commercial interiors. This position reports directly to the VP of Architecture and must work well in a dynamic, fast paced, high growth environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The following responsibilities would be core to the position:

• Work with Operations team, Construction team and architectural consultants to evaluate and establish scope narratives for yearly Capital plan expenditures.


• Work with Facilities, Club Operations Marketing and Construction to execute highly successful club renovation projects.


• Direct and execute against the flow of “facilities design requests.”


• Manage team of 4-6 Project Managers.


• Liaison with internal construction team and renovations project managers.


• Development of new brand standards; management and implementation of current ones


• Weekly reporting of projects status.


• When required produce lease exhibits, historic board presentations and any other required entitlement documentation.


• Track and manage scope, budget and schedule sign off procedures for the projects. These can range from 500k – 8mil and include tenant improvement work and base building coordination including architecture and infrastructure.


• Manage consultants’ compliance with prototype standards and delivery of on time documents in structured phasing. Typically: Blocking, Schematic, Design Development, Construction Documents and Construction Administration.


• Plan and conduct regular consultant meetings.


• Provide and update project schedules and program charts.


• Assist in resolving construction/design related issues as they arise in the filed by providing sketches and expertise.


• Embrace and improve upon Standard Operating Procedures for design process


• Review shop drawings on multiple projects.


• Liaison with internal departments. Including but not limited to: Operations, Construction, Acquisitions, Finance and Creative (Graphics and Marketing)


• Identify opportunities for the use of new technology and materials.


• Execute various brand initiatives that may include graphic design and / or industrial design.


• Meet with the VP of Architecture and Planning weekly and prepare reports on progress of projects.


• Domestic travel is required.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should possess the following qualities and qualifications:

  • A 4 or 5 year Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior design or Construction Management; Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 10-12 years successful track record in the oversight and direct involvement of highly designed commercial interior development.
  • Able to develop, communicate and successfully implement a management strategy to execute projects.
  • Strong construction knowledge and experience is essential
  • Strong financial, analytical and business acumen
  • Highly developed aesthetic sense.
  • Have the ability to inspire a team, set and communicate goals, measure accomplishments, hold a team accountable, provide feedback and delegate
  • Intrinsic understanding of luxury brands, the discerning customer’s desire for refined ambience.
  • Passionate about fitness
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Computer proficient. Fluent in ACAD, Illustrator and Photoshop. (Mac or PC)
