Job Description

As the ultimate ambassador of our brand, the District Manager at SoulCycle takes on a pivotal role in overseeing the business operations of our studios within a geographic area (10+ locations). Your leadership will drive ridership growth, people development, and operational efficiency which will all contribute to the growth of our brand. Reporting directly to the VP of Operations, you'll lead a team of Studio Managers across multiple locations to deliver on SoulCycle's high standards of excellence and rider experience. This District must be local to the NY Metro area. 

Role Expectations:

Rider Growth - 30%

  • Drive district sales by leveraging SoulCycle's unique experience, ensuring studio teams to connect with riders and promote the transformative aspects of classes and community.
  • Model the enthusiasm and energy characteristic of SoulCycle's brand, fostering positive interactions with riders and team members to develop keen insights to each studio’s ridership demographic, community opportunities, and business driving data points.
  • Empower Studio Managers to handle rider issues in a manner that supports long-term relationships while also protecting the business.
  • Ensure Studio teams have and are held accountable to developed business plans with specific KPI goals (ridership, acquisition, retention, and frequency) attached to each area of the business that is rider facing.

Success Looks Like:

  •  Year-over-year paid ridership growth, consistent month-over-month active rider base growth

People - 30%

  • Recruit, develop, and retain high-caliber Studio Managers who align with SoulCycle's core values and can execute at a premium level.
  • Ensure Studio Managers build and maintain people development plans for all levels of talent on their team.
  • Regularly review each team structure to ensure current talent needs are aligned with the needs of your business strategies.
  • Utilize SoulCycle's training programs to ensure that the district's staff is well-versed in Soul’s operations, rider experiences, as well as new and on-going initiatives.
  • Utilize yearly appraisal and talent management review processes to assess talent and provide developmental plans to support growth and retention.
  • Demonstrate clear coaching and leadership skills with all levels of the team.
  • Ensure employee retention levels are maintained through training, mentorship, and careful hiring practices.
  • Work with the People team to resolve staff concerns and identify and address potential liability issues.
  • Understand and work within the perimeters of SoulCycle’s policies, local city, state, and federal employment laws.
  • Review all performance management processes to ensure they well documented and communicated with you to protect both the employee and the business.

Success Looks Like:

  • < 50% turnover rates across District, 100% training completion rates for all staff levels  

Rider Experience - 20%

  • Ensure all studio teams are trained and executing on our proprietary Rider Experience (SoulRX) journey. 
  • Visit studios within your district regularly to observe, provide feedback, and improve upon on the rider experience.
  • Partner with Studio Managers and local business to provide surprise and delight moments for our riders.
  • Prioritize the health and safety of our riders during escalated incidents and ensure studio teams.

are trained on preventative measures (i.e., CPR/AED, de-escalation tactics, emergency response protocols, unwanted persons)

  • Review all NPS scores and reviews to identify patterns and opportunities to improve.

Success Looks Like:

  • Consistently high NPS score (75+) at each studio, minimal escalated rider issues, exceeding rider retention and frequency goals 

Finance & Operations - 20%

  • Maintain an awareness of the competitive fitness landscape and trends, using insights to support financial goals, akin to SoulCycle's commitment to staying relevant and innovative.
  • Implement cost control measures that align with SoulCycle's budget goals across labor, inventory, supplies, and facilities.
  • Ensure adherence to SoulCycle’s policy and procedures that are in place to control sales, expenses, and loss prevention.
  • Hold Studio Managers accountable to all visual and facilities standards across the district to ensure SoulCycle's dedication to creating an immersive and inspiring environment for riders and staff
  • Collaborate with the HQ Support team to implement event plans, marketing strategies, new product launches, procedure improvements, and other processes as they come out.
  • Provide fact-based assessments of processes and programs and actively make recommendations for improvements
  • Ensure all critical facilities issues are remedied in a timely manner to reduce risk to the business.

Success Looks Like:

  • Consistent 90%+ passing grades on quarterly facilities reviews, flawless execution of initiatives, Controllable costs below budget by studio (labor, supplies, R&M), < 2% inventory shrink.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of multi-unit management experience, preferably in a hospitality industry
  • Proven track record of consistently meeting financial objectives across multiple units.
  • Proven experience attracting and building local partnerships, preferably in the geographic region under consideration.
  • Success in developing teams and promoting people across geographic distances.
  • Ability to travel up to 75% of the time.
  • Ability to manage 10 or more direct reports and support 200+ team members.
  • Ability to work cross functionally and maintain strong interpersonal relationships.
  • Strong spreadsheet, word processing, and email communication skills

Pay Transparency: $110k - $150k plus bonus
