Job Description

We seek someone sharp, personable, and highly organized to continue to build Conservatives Concerned about the Death Penalty, increase its visibility, and strengthen our network of state-level CCATDP groups. This is a great opportunity to join a dynamic team at a leading national organization. The ideal candidate will have experience and credibility working with conservatives; comfort collaborating across political differences; strong communication and advocacy skills; and a commitment to fairness and racial equity.

Job responsibilities:

  • Build and train a national Speakers’ Bureau of conservative allies who can represent CCATDP at conferences, speaking engagements, and in the media.

  • Organize and lead the first national gathering of CCATDP local groups in Fall 2018, including leading the agenda development, recruitment, and logistics.

  • Work with other EJUSA team members to integrate conservative allies into state level death penalty work.

  • Strengthen local CCATDP branches by providing ongoing coaching, training, and support to increase their recruitment, visibility, and integration with other local efforts to oppose the death penalty.

  • Work with state anti-death penalty coalitions to recruit and launch new CCATDP local branches.

  • Recruit new CCATDP supporters, both locally and nationally, and mobilize them to take action opposing executions, supporting policy change, speaking out, or growing the network.

  • Work with CCATDP communications team to identify opportunities to amplify conservative voices in state and national media.

  • Act as lead spokesperson for CCATDP.

  • Represent and promote CCATDP at key conservative conferences and events.

  • Manage CCATDP social media channels, blog, and email list.

  • Participate in EJUSA staff meetings and internal strategy discussions about how to engage conservatives in other aspects of EJUSA’s work.

  • Additional projects as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • At least 3-5 years of relevant experience in outreach, program management, advocacy, or related fields.

  • Excellent interpersonal relationship building, networking, and social skills; ability to connect authentically and build trust with diverse groups of people. 


  • Strong communication skills, including experience giving media interviews, public speaking, and preparing/supporting others to do so. 


  • Experience with facilitation, training/leading workshops, and familiarity with campaign strategy a strong plus.

  • Strong organizational ability, including ability to juggle multiple projects, meet deadlines, keep things moving, and maintain a high attention to detail; flexible and tenacious. 


  • Familiarity with Microsoft and web-based apps such as GoogleDocs. Comfort working on a Mac or willingness to learn. 


  • Passion and commitment to repealing the death penalty and to the mission and values of EJUSA, including a commitment to racial equity. 


  • Ability to travel.

Compensation:

The salary range is low to mid 50's, depending on experience. Excellent benefits include employer-paid healthcare, retirement plan, long-term disability, paid vacation, sick days, holidays, personal days, and professional development allowance.
