Job Description

In this permanent  Grade 1 role, based at Richmond Rehab, you will be responsible for providing speech pathology assessment and management to inpatients and outpatients, admitted with stroke and non-stroke neurological conditions , as well as other conditions impacting on swallowing, communication and cognition. You will be part of the supportive Speech Pathology and Dietetics team and report to the Manager, Speech Pathology & Dietetics, Epworth Continuing Care and Support Services (CCSS). You will be an active member of the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT).

If successful, you will also have access to regular supervision, monthly catch-ups with your peers and professional education opportunities.

You will make an impact by:

  • Providing evidence-based assessment and management to patients experiencing swallowing, communication and cognition challenges
  • Demonstrating empathy and compassion while encouraging patients and family members/carers to participate in all stages of care
  • Actively participating as a member of the department and wider MDT

Position Description        Inherent Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Speech Pathology or equivalent degree
  • Eligible for membership with Speech Pathology Australia (SPA)
  • Experience working with adults in a hospital setting
  • Experience using a variety of language assessment tools and interventions
  • An understanding of instrumental evaluations of swallowing (eg: VFSS/FEES)
