2025 Pain Medicine Advanced Trainee (12 Months Full Time) - Epworth HealthCare Geelong (under the auspices of Pain Matrix)

Epworth Geelong, under the auspices of Pain Matrix, are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Pain Medicine Advanced Trainee commencing February 2025.  This is a full-time role (43 hours/week including five hours training time).

To be eligible, you must be a registered candidate with the Faculty of Pain Medicine Training Program. For further details on this Training Program please refer to https://www.anzca.edu.au 

The position is located within Pain Matrix Geelong, a fully comprehensive and innovative private pain management private practice. The trainee will provide, or assist with, appropriate pain management in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

About the role

The position is designed for trainees in their practice development year who wish to preform procedures in the setting of a Multidisciplinary practice. It will offer a great opportunity to build on Clinical, Interventional and Multidisciplinary program skills. The Specialist Trainee will work alongside leading Specialist Pain Medicine Physicians that perform intervention. You will be mentored in safe and appropriate use of interventional pain procedures and patient selection.

At the completion of the rotation, we require the specialist trainee to obtain competencies in the areas below to the level expected of a trainee at his/her current stage of training:

Patient Care that is compassionate, appropriate, and effective for the treatment of health problems and the promotion of health.

Interpersonal and Communication Skills that result in effective information exchange and teaming with patients, their families, and other health professionals.

Clinical Management 

Understand relevant principles, apply knowledge in practice, and to demonstrate abilities in the clinical management of patients with acute and chronic pain. 

Pain Assessment and Measurement 

Assess pain and outcome of pain treatment using history, clinical examination and pain measurement tools. Recognize the limitations of pain measurement techniques 

Understanding of acute and chronic pain and common pain syndromes

Ability to choose the most appropriate technique of acute and chronic pain management.

Competence in formulating pain management plans for Cancer Pain. Palliative Care and Neuropathic Pain. Use of Diagnostic Studies
