Job Description

Hospital in the Home has developed another branch of their service that Epworth Healthcare provides in the community. Chemotherapy (Chemo) in the Home which will provide Chemotherapy to eligible patients in the comforts of their home.

Opportunities exist for you to work on a permanent part-time or full-time basis as an RN will who  thrive on seeing a wide variety of acute patients in the comfort of their own home. The successful applicant will be working independently, visiting patients in their homes, to administer antineoplastic drugs from a defined list of approved treatments. 

Although medications will be checked with another qualified nurse prior to leaving the hospital, and again at the point of care, it is essential that you have a strong foundation in antineoplastic drug handling and administration.

You will also be a part of the Hospital in the Home Team team who will equip you with the skills in providing community nursing. You will work alongside Medical Practitioners in the team and will report to the Nurse Unit Manager.

The HITH unit operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with an on-call service.  At Epworth, a car, phone and laptop are provided on the days that you will work.

You will make an impact by:

  • Providing high quality nursing care and experience to patients
  • Utilising a reflective, critical thinking and evidence-based approach to the clinical care of patients
  • Working collaboratively with fellow members of the multidisciplinary team

To be successful in this role…

You will need to be a Registered Nurse with the completion of Antineoplastic Drug Administration Course (ADAC) or similar courses.

You will have

  • A Full Driver's License
  • Current nursing registration with AHPRA
  • Experience in working in a Chemo ward or Day Oncology Unit for at least 2 years
  • Demonstrated commitment to continued education

The annual salary range for full time Registered Nurses – AUD $66,710 - $93,669 + super + entitlements depending on registration type, year level and position (prorated for part-time).
