Job Description

This is an exciting permanent, full-time opportunity for an experienced Nurse Unit Manager to lead the continued growth of our 30 bed Orthopaedic inpatient unit, providing excellent care to patients, including Complex Pain specialties. 

Key areas of focus for this role include:

  • As part of the Epworth leadership team, delivering an exceptional patient and staff experience in accordance with Epworth HealthCare values
  • Ensuring patient flow is managed whilst providing high standards of patient care
  • Leading a team through role-modelling empathetic and person-centred care to patients, families, VMO's and staff
  • Building and nurturing a strong capable workforce within the unit
  • Promoting and supporting ongoing learning and education for all team members
  • Recruitment, staff retention, professional development, financial management, occupational health and safety
  • Supporting the goals and strategy of the organisation

To be successful in the role you will…

  • Be passionate about patient care and achieving high quality clinical outcomes
  • Be an experienced clinical leader, capable of engaging staff to deliver the Epworth HealthCare vision and strategic goals
  • Be highly accountable and demonstrate a strong, supportive and engaging style
  • Have well-developed and effective cross-departmental relationship management skills
  • Have a bias for the positive and be versatile to embrace the growth of both the role and Epworth Geelong
  • Have a contemporary knowledge of best practice in surgical procedures and the patient journey
  • Hold a current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
  • Post Graduate certificate in Orthopaedic Nursing and/or Management (desirable)
