Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Nurse Unit Manager to lead and inspire our dedicated and enthusiastic team to deliver best practice, patient centred care, providing day chemotherapy regimes and Apheresis services including Stem cell collection.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Clinical & Maternity Services, you will be part of the Epworth Freemasons leadership team and will be responsible for the performance of the highly skilled Day oncology/Apheresis team. This is a 12 month maternity leave cover opportunity, based in East Melbourne.

Key focus areas for this role include:

  • Delivering exceptional experience in accordance with Epworth HealthCare values
  • Having a strong leadership presence and delivering an exceptional patient experience within the unit.
  • Ensuring patient flow is managed whilst providing high standards of patient care.
  • Facilitating effective patient access and clinical service mapping from both a financial and staffing perspective.
  • Managing clinical risk and implementing process improvements to improve patient outcomes.        
  • Working in collaboration with medical staff, the oncology/haematology unit and the hospital executive team to ensure patient care is integrated, safe, supportive and of high quality
  • Building and nurturing a strong capable workforce within the unit
  • Promoting and supporting ongoing learning and education for all staff within the unit
  • Recruitment, retention, professional development of staff, financial management, occupational health and safety

You are a proven nursing leader who has well-developed people management, organisational and financial acumen skills.  An excellent communicator, you have a supportive and engaging style that enables you to easily build rapport with your team, key stakeholders, patients and their families.  You foster a supportive environment for patients and staff and enjoy actively contributing to the learning and development of others.   

 You will have:

  • Current nursing registration with AHPRA
  • Completed the ADAC course
  • Contemporary knowledge of best practice nursing care and the patient journey
  • Previous management experience - at NUM or ANUM level
  • Possess excellent communication and customer liaison skills with proven ability to motivate and lead a team
  • Committed to achieving high quality clinical outcomes
  • Demonstrated experience in building relationships with all stakeholders 
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing environments
  • Demonstrated ability in financial management and understanding of budgets.
  • Related Post Graduate qualifications (clinical or leadership) desirable
