Job Description

Full time 12 month maternity leave position based at East Melbourne Operating Theatre in Anaesthetics and PACU.  The Nurse Unit Manager key leadership role will suit a highly dynamic and flexible Nurse leader who is willing to continue to build on outstanding service development, and grow our supportive and engaging culture to achieve excellence in patient care.

You will make an impact by:

  • Delivering an exceptional patient experience within perioperative services
  • Engagement in multi-modal education methods to provide evidence-based and quality learning for staff, visiting practitioners and students
  • Encouragement and supervision of clinicians in their professional development to provide high standards of patient care
  • Encouraging and role-modelling empathy to patients, families and medical consultants
  • Active and collaborative involvement in the clinical care of patients within Perioperative Services environment

To be successful in the role you will:

  • Be appropriately registered with AHPRA (essential)
  • Have experience in perioperative nursing
  • Hold post-graduate qualifications in Perioperative Services
  • Be able to demonstrate current experience in clinical education in the perioperative environment
  • Have excellent written, verbal & presentation skills
  • Have a contemporary knowledge of best practice in nursing care
  • Be highly accountable and demonstrate a strong, supportive and engaging style
  • Be passionate about patient care and achieving high quality clinical outcomes

About Epworth Freemasons

Epworth Freemasons consists of three sites.  The Main Hospital is on Albert Street East Melbourne has a total of 12 operating theatres. The Victoria Parade site is just across the road and consists of an additional 6 theatres including our Maternity wards and Jolimont Road site consists of 2 theatres specialising in IVF procedures.

Freemason’s primary specialities include: Orthopaedics, Gynaecology/ IVF, Urology, General, Plastics, ENT/ Maxfax Ophthalmology and Endoscopy. We also have two Da Vinci Robot’s at Freemasons and upskilling into this area is strongly supported. We have ICU + HDU on site. We also offer a Crisis Resource Management Education (4hr ) to new PACU/Anaesthetic staff.  Car Parking is available on both sites at a discounted rate and easily accessible from Parliament Station.
