Job Description

An exciting leadership opportunity exists for an experienced Nurse Unit Manager in CSSD department at Epworth Geelong.  This full time opportunity would suit an experienced and motivated Registered Nurse who is interested in developing their leadership and management skills within a perioperative environment. This role works closely with a number of clinical leaders and is an integral part of the perioperative operations at Epworth Geelong.

Key areas of focus for this role include:

Ensuring patient flow & theatre utilisation is managed, whilst providing high standards of clinical sterilisation services

Providing leadership and advocacy for on-going development for the CSSD team

Inter-departmental relationship building and strong customer service delivery to our surgical teams are necessary components of this position

To be successful in the role :

  • Have a contemporary knowledge of best practice sterilisation techniques and services
  • Y6 Instrument Technician experience required or RN leadership experience
  • Be highly accountable and demonstrate a strong, supportive and engaging style
  • Be able to assess critical situations and respond with a high focus on clinical outcomes and customer service
  • Be passionate about patient care and achieving high quality clinical outcomes
  • Have well-developed and effective cross-department relationship management skills
  • Have proven ability to prioritise, multi task and be flexible in a fast-paced environment.

Our Peri-operative environment consists of 9 Operating Theatres including a Hybrid Theatre, Cath Lab and 2 endoscopy suites.Located all on the one level we have the Operating Theatre, Cath Lab, ICU and Day Surgery allowing excellent patient flow and best patient care. As there is an increased demand for the excellence Epworth Geelong provide to its patients and VMO’s, our operating theatres are continuing to expand. Currently our specialities include; Orthopaedics, Vascular, General, Macs Facs, ENT, Pain, Ophthalmology, Endoscopy, Plastics, Neurosurgery and Urology. We operate Monday to Friday with emergencies on weekends which helps provide flexible rostering, giving our staff an excellent work/life balance. With education as a key motivator for our department we provide multiple opportunities for our staff to develop new skills as well as continue to build on their already strong knowledge base.
