Job Description

Context

The primary objective of the Communication Unit is to support Epicentre’s strategic directions in promoting Epicentre’s scientific expertise, study results and operational abilities, in enhancing Epicentre institutional reputation and in facilitating new partnerships and development of its resources.

The position of Director of this Unit is new at Epicentre.

Mission

The Communications Director designs a strategic communication plan and oversees its implementation both internally and externally. He/she should be able to understand the overall global health landscape and help develop appropriate communication strategies on Epicentre’s expertise and role. He/she reports directly to the General Director and supervises the work of two staff in charge of communication tools development.

Responsibilities

-         Develop and implement a communication plan including specifically adapted messaging towards scientific and medical environment, humanitarian environment, international institutions, public health decision makers, governments, and media

-         Develop networking capacity with media, academics, civil society groups etc. 

-         Liaise with the MSF network of communication managers

-         Monitor the impact of Epicentre communication through relevant indicators

-         Develop with the General Director and the Human Resources Director an internal communication plan  

Qualifications

·        Five years of work experience in similar position preferably in NGOs or global health or humanitarian organizations, ideally with a medical background

·        Excellent command of written and spoken English and French, other languages is a plus

·        Ability to work in multi-cultural team and to develop working relationships with colleagues and partners

·        Ability to propose innovative ideas for communication

·        University degree in communication, public health or science, or related area.

Additional Information

Conditions

·        Position based in Paris with travels abroad (20%)

·        Open-end contract starting asap

·        Annual salary between 63,5K€ and 68,1K€ on 13 months according to experience; 22 extra days-off, health insurance, reimbursement 50% of public transport pass, meal ticket
