Job Description

Performs a variety of Metal Fabrication and assembles structural metal products, such as framework for machinery, tanks, stacks, and metal parts for buildings and bridges according to job order, verbal instructions, and blueprints: Develops layout and plans sequence of operations, applying knowledge of trigonometry, stock allowances for thickness, machine and welding shrinkage, and physical properties of metal. 

Responsibilities  

  1. Lay out, fit, tack weld, pressure tight, test and repair to blueprint specifications all piping system, fuel tanks, or any other pressured vessel he may assigned excluding all hydraulic cylinders. 

  1. Lays out, fits, assemblers, tack welds and straightens fabrications to blueprint specifications with the use of jigs, fixtures and/or instructions 

  • Verifies conformance of work piece to specifications, using square, ruler, and measuring tape. 

 

Qualifications

I. Basic Qualifications (Required) 

 

  1. Education  

  • 2 – 3 years of trade training and high school  

  1. Experience  

  • A minimum of three - five years practical experience is required. 

  

II. Preferred Qualifications 

  • Education or Experience  

  • Associates Degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school. 

Interpersonal Skills 

  1. Ability to setup and utilize inspection equipment. 

  1. Ability to write in a clear and concise manner 

  1. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions 

  1. Ability to communicate welding issues to Supervisors and Welders  

Technical Skills 

  • Must have expert knowledge of Weld Symbols and Weld Positions used in production. 

  • Must be able to read and understand detailed drawings and welding procedures/specifications. 

  • Must have experience using standard measuring tool 

  • Understanding of Print tolerances 

  • Basic computer knowledge is required:  Access and Excel.

V. Work Environment & Physical Requirements 

  • Work is performed in a manufacturing and/or warehouse environment with exposure to noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures. 

  • Requires standing, walking, bending, and reaching for extended periods.   

  • Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory. 

VI. Schedule / Shift 

  • Work schedule and shift assignment may vary based on operational needs.  

  • Overtime, weekend, and holiday work may be required as business demands dictate.
