Job Description

JOB PURPOSE

  • Supervise and co-ordinate the day-to-day activities of driver/operators ensuring safe operations and OTM is fit for purpose.
  • Drive and Operate OTMs safely & to be professional, competent & compliant in all aspects of your duties
  • To be competent in basic maintenance, repairs & fault finding to OTMs.

Additional Information

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  • Liaise with customer and Train operating companies as required
  • Carry out safety briefs as required
  • Make sure method statements and risk assessments are applied
  • Update and carry out risk assessments as required
  • Maintain regular contact with control centre
  • Maintain regular contact with Operations Manager
  • Maintain regular communication with team members
  • Provide reports / information as required by Operations manager
  • Notify and respond to accident and incidents as required
  • Carry out assessing of staff as required and to plan
  • Mentor staff as required and document progress/issues
  • Comply with all statutory and company policies and procedures
  • To undertake training and identify training requirements for the team
  • To ensure all machine defects are reported appropriately
  • To drive, operate and conduct OTM in line with procedures
  • Complete all necessary documentation
  • Ensure machine is fit for purpose as per the operations manual
  • Identify route learning/refreshing requirements for team
  • To work to, and assist with roster planning/application as directed by the company
  • To book hotels when lodging is required.
  • To attend meetings as required
  • To liaise with and respond to requests from Operations/Driver Standards Manager
  • Ensure any spares used during the shift are reported to the maintenance department.
  • Report Faults
  • Carry out machine repairs as required in line with own competence
  • Use tools and equipment provided on the machine
  • Carry out site visits to assist planning of upcoming work as requested by the customer

  • Only undertake work for which you have been trained and (if required) certified competent.
  • To comply with Risk Assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.
  • Maintain and utilise all PPE provided by the employer.
  • Co-operate with your employer on health, safety, and environment.
  • Make safe any unsafe conditions where practical and challenge unsafe work practices.
  • Inform your line manager, supervisor or health and safety representative of any unsafe occurrences
  • Report all, and assist with investigating relevant accidents, incidents and near misses
  • Additional responsibilities as identified for Supervisors in PRO/S/G/015
