Job Description
We are looking for a mid-level or senior Data Engineer to join the United Data Team at Entain CEE. You will work as part of an international, cross-functional team of data professionals, contributing to the development of our modern cloud-based data platform and the data services that power our products and operations.
In this role, you will design and build scalable pipelines, data models, and integrations, helping deliver reliable, production-ready data systems that support decision-making and enable data-driven growth across our brands.
You will:
- Build and maintain data ingestion and transformation pipelines (batch & streaming) across multiple brands.
- Work closely with stakeholders in data engineering, analytics, and data science to ensure data is reliable, high-quality, and business-ready.
- Use modern data tools and frameworks such as GCP, Confluent Cloud (Kafka), Dataform, Airflow, Terraform, GitLab to deliver production-grade data systems.
- Support integration of multiple source systems using Debezium (CDC) and streaming technologies.
- Collaborate in an agile environment focused on continuous improvement, automation, and delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, deploy, and monitor scalable data pipelines for real-time and batch processing.
- Design and implement data models and warehouse structures in BigQuery.
- Build and maintain inbound and outbound integrations across systems and brands.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and peer learning to maintain best engineering standards.
- Set up and manage monitoring and alerting for pipeline health and data quality.
- Collaborate closely with the Analytics, Data Science, and Finance teams to enable data-driven insights.
- Continuously optimize performance and reliability of data services.
- Document data flows, schemas, and system architecture.
Qualifications
Must-have:
Technical Skills
- 2+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar data-focused role.
- Strong hands-on experience with cloud data platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP) (or AWS/Azure equivalents).
- Proficiency in SQL for complex data transformations, analysis, and backend logic.
- Experience designing and implementing data models and layers (bronze/silver/gold or similar), following data warehousing and dimensional modelling best practices.
- Practical experience with Dataform or equivalent data transformation frameworks (e.g., dbt, Apache Beam, or custom ELT pipelines) for scalable model development.
- Experience using Airflow (or similar) for data pipeline orchestration.
- Understanding of Data Lakes and common file formats (Parquet, Avro, etc.).
- Familiarity with streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka) and CI/CD, Git, and agile workflows.
Collaboration & Mindset
- Strong collaboration skills - able to work closely with Analytics Architect, Data Analysts, and Business stakeholders to deliver reliable, consumption-ready datasets.
- Excellent communication skills - capable of explaining complex technical concepts in clear, accessible language.
- A proactive “let’s make it happen” attitude - driven to deliver, continuously improve, and contribute to a culture of ownership and teamwork.
Nice to have:
- Exposure to Dataflow or other large-scale data processing frameworks for batch or streaming pipelines.
- Experience with Kafka, Debezium, and Change Data Capture (CDC) integrations.
- Working knowledge of Terraform and infrastructure-as-code practices.
- Experience implementing monitoring and alerting (e.g., Grafana, or GCP Monitoring).
- iGaming industry experience
