Job Description

Responsible for overseeing daily fitness center operations to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality service delivery. Engages with members and program participants to provide effective, enjoyable fitness and wellness experiences aligned with organizational goals and policies. Delivers safe, motivating exercise instruction and demonstrates strong customer service and communication skills. Supports all aspects of program execution, including planning, administration, logistics, marketing and promotion, and facilitation.

Hours: Monday-Thursday, flexible hours between 12:00-6:00pm and Fridays 12:00-4:00pm, up to 30 hours per week.

Essential Functions

  • Fitness center oversight and day-to-day operational management/oversight.
  • Provide direction and support to Fitness Specialists and contractors when needed.
  • Responsible for maintenance and updating of the wellness portal and other wellness technology platforms.
  • Physical Well-being program coordination:
    • Assist Manager in creation and coordination of wellness programs that focus on physical health, including exercise, nutrition, weight management, and preventative care.
    • Teach and create group exercise classes (virtual/in-person) per Wellness programming.
    • Collaborate with onsite or virtual fitness programs, 6035 Fitness Center, LIveWise Fitness Center, and wellness experts to provide resources, activities, and challenges.
    • Plan and promote health-related events, such as fitness challenges, wellness fairs, and screenings.
  • Provide Personal Training and conduct Fitness Assessments.
  • Conduct Fitness Center & Equipment Orientations.
  • Ensure equipment safety concerns are escalated accordingly.
  • Provide nutritional consultation and wellness coaching.
  • Attend and assist with health fairs, table events, and screenings.
  • Visit service centers and promote wellness organizationally wide.
  • Update health and wellness bulletin boards.
  • Monthly reporting on statistics of the facilities.
  • Equipment cleaning.
  • Fitness Center floor supervision.
  • Bank Secrecy Act: Remains cognizant of and adheres to Wings policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act.

Qualifications

Minimum Formal Qualifications for this Position:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Management, or related discipline preferred.
  • 4+ years' combined experience in a fitness center or wellness coaching environment/role. 
  • 1+ years' group fitness instruction experience. 

Technical or Specialized Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge of lifestyle, diet, and the human body.
  • Knowledge of patient rights and laws relative to those rights, such as HIPAA.
  • Communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to build comprehensive reports and effectively convey information to others.
  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Maintains good public relations and keeps supervisors informed of customer and facility needs
  • Advanced knowledge in techniques and dynamics of basic group fitness and specialty classes.
  • Ability to identify and correct participant technique.
  • Ability to offer exercise modifications.
  • Ability to teach others how to do something.
  • Ability to manage and adjust different forms of media utilized in the fitness center, including television and radio.

Certifications Required:

  • Current CPR/AED certification, upon hire required.
  • Current First Aid Certification, upon hire required.
  • Nationally accredited Personal Training OR Group Fitness certification within 90 Days of hire required.

Additional Information

PAY RANGE: $28-$32/hour (S13) plus 10% annual target bonus.
Final compensation for this position will be determined by various factors such as relevant work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, certifications, location and internal pay equity.
