Job Description

The purpose of this position is to lead the Corporate Banking group in generating new, sound, and profitable loan and deposit relationships from the organization's market area, ensuring a focus on bringing in the right type and quantity of relationships. In addition to the duties of a Corporate Lending Officer, this position will also serve in a managerial capacity overseeing 4-8 Corporate Banking staff members (Corporate Lending Officers and Credit Analysts). The department prospects, markets, underwrites, and services the banking needs-including loan and deposit products for commercial enterprises and their principals, such as manufacturers, professional practices, service companies, wholesalers, and real estate professionals.

Essential Functions

  • Management of Lender Production Activities:
    • Supervision of Lenders and Relationship Managers ensuring that proper loan opportunities are being identified and loans are being closed.
    • Annual staff performance reviews / mentoring / coaching / disciplinary action.
  • Corporate Lending Prospecting / Growth:
    • Identify prospects based upon experience and knowledge of local market.
    • Manage ongoing relationships (generally $20-40M portfolio).
    • Provide an informed credit decision based on academic background and experience.
  • Risk Management:
    • Proactively manage new production being mindful of policy restraints, regulatory requirements, and within prudent credit risk parameters.
    • Monitor and track credit risk across the portfolio by reviewing loan presentations, reports, and analytics.
  • Strategy Development:
    • Work with the VP of Corporate Lending to set the strategic focus for Corporate Banking to grow in our new and existing markets, in adding and selecting the correct staff, and in risk management of the Corporate Banking Portfolio.
  • Bank Secrecy Act: Remains cognizant of and adheres to Wings policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act.

Qualifications

Minimum Formal Qualifications for this Position:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance or related field. 
  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • 10+ years' of commercial/corporate sales, credit analysis, underwriting, and service experience. 
  • 3+ years' of management or team leadership experience preferred.

Technical or Specialized Knowledge/Skills:

  • Sufficient accounting knowledge to analyze financial statements.
  • Excellent understanding of federal regulations, Corporate Lending Policy, and prudent underwriting.
  • Able to read and analyze spread (Baker-Hill) financial statements.
  • Ability to lead a diverse people group in obtaining lending goals, finding opportunities, risk management, etc.
  • Knowledge of legal aspects of non-natural persons (Corporations, LLCs, etc.).
  • Knowledge of contract law.
  • Strong Credit and Interest Rate Risk Management skills.
  • Excellent understanding of business economics and banking.
  • Working knowledge of corporate business practices.
  • Comprehensive understanding of financial deposit and loan products.
  • Relationship Management - influencing, advisory, and acquisition skills.
  • Problem solving - superior problem-solving skills.
  • Communication - superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite Word processing and spreadsheet applications.

Certifications Required:

  • Successful completion of a formal commercial credit training program. 
  • Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record. 

Additional Information

PAY RANGE: $165,000 to $193,000 Annually (S20) plus 20% annual target bonus.
Final compensation for this position will be determined by various factors such as relevant work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, certifications, location and internal pay equity.
