Job Description

Position Purpose:

The Corporate Environmental Health & Safety Director is responsible for developing the corporate HSE strategic plan that will span all businesses and will have a heavy emphasis on our multi-site manufacturing and field service operations.  The EHS Director will lead, direct, and support all corporate and division sites for all EHS program development and improvements that will shape the company’s EHS culture.  The Director will manage a team of EHS Managers to ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and company policies.    The EHS Director will work closely with senior and plant leadership in addition to HR Leaders to establish programs and policies that are consistent with and promote Enprotech’s culture & values. 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:       

  • Develops the strategic initiatives that will shape our EHS culture and promote a culture of Continual Improvement.
  • Works with site EHS Managers to ensure legal, regulatory and company policy compliance.
  • Revises corporate EHS policies when needed.
  • Develops a high functioning EHS Manager team to lead and implement corporate EHS programs.
  •  Develop a robust safety training program with documentation to ensure all Team Members are properly trained when required, are competent, and retrained when necessary.
  • Support all site safety teams to expand their;  EHS knowledge, First Responder training, hazard awareness and recognition, and effective peer-to-peer EHS communications.
  • Conduct plant and customer site audits to evaluate our team’s EHS performance and to determine any needed training or improvements to our EHS programs.
  • Use of KPIs, metrics and data analysis to establish short-term and/or long-term changes and improvements in EHS programs.  
  • Provides corporate and site EHS reports.
  • Develops Job Hazardous Analysis and Job Safety Analysis.
  • Reviews and participates in incident investigations, using root cause analysis and corrective action.
  • Managing all aspects of the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
  • Keeping current with all government safety and health laws, standards, regulations and industrial hygiene, including oversite of appropriate training.
  • Responsible for all OHSA logs and reporting.
  • Works with HR to manage Workers compensation programs.
  • Celebrate safety successes across all companies.
  • Support health, safety, and environmental diligence and integration of potential industrial acquisitions

Qualifications

Education & Training Requirements:      

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health
  • One or more of the following certifications:  CSP, ASP, SMS, CIH.
  • Experience in Workers Compensation Insurance.
  • Training in total quality management, Lean Manufacturing, Project Management  or experience with similar processes.
  • EMT/ First Responder Certification

Experience Requirements:          

  • 10+ years of progressive EHS management experience

 Skills:

  • A working background with team environments (Self Directed Work teams, problem solving teams or work cells) or equivalent team training.
  • Demonstrated practical experience in safety process improvement and statutory requirements.
  • Experience interacting with local, state and federal regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to interpret and apply OSHA regulations on a practical basis and make recommendations to management, including decision on recordable injuries and OHSA reporting.  
  • Knowledge of behavioral based safety programs and procedures.
  • Ability to facilitate job safety analysis of jobs.
  • Ability to train supervisors, and team members on incident investigation, hazard identification and audit procedures.
  • Ability to manage evaluation of leading and lagging safety indicators.
  • Familiarity with basic medical terminology.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the demonstrated ability to communicate successfully with multiple levels within an organization.
  • Demonstrated skills to partner with operational groups to develop and achieve strategic safety goals.
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly and annual reports.
  • High degree of emotional intelligence to better implement change.
  • Strong integrity and willingness to do the right thing to keep help keep our team members safe.

Resource responsibility:

  • Manage safety consultant budget
  • Decisions on safety purchases, training and materials
  • Work with HR in evaluation of workers comp annual insurance renewals and
  • Work with HR and management on local safety programs and initiatives
