We have an immediate opening for a Human Resources Manager based at our Cleveland OH facility.   The primary function of this position will be to partner with our management team and manage the day-to-day operation of the Human Resources function for our Corporate Office, Cleveland, OH and LaPorte, IN facilities.

The Human Resources Manager will partner closely with business leaders and the broader HR team to champion a positive culture, develop talent, and seek opportunities to create a positive impact on the organization by providing full-cycle Human Resources leadership and support. This role is both a strategic and hands-on position that will be responsible for aligning HR practices with business needs and working across all HR disciplines to drive HR functional excellence and process improvement. Areas of responsibility include all aspects of Human Resources management, including but not limited to: Talent Acquisition, Talent Development, Performance Management, Workforce Planning, Union and Nonunion Employee Relations, Workers’ Compensation, benefits administration, Leaves of Absence and Compliance with Federal & State Employment Laws.

MAIN JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the execution of business goals and strategic direction by partnering with key business leaders, site leadership and corporate HR to implement high value-added HR processes/projects that drive continuous improvement.
  • Engage with team members and the management teams to enable business strategies, conduct team member relations related assessments and investigations, and discuss continuous improvement opportunities to foster a positive team member experience.
  • Conduct timely, objective, and thorough internal investigations.
  • Lead and/or support Human Resources project work that is in direct support of overall business goals/strategy. 
  • Provide coaching and guidance to management regarding leadership, performance management and employee relations. Advises and assists management on interpretation and administration of policies, procedures, programs and the collective bargaining agreement.
  • Evaluate and recommend changes to policies, procedures and services based on trends and business need.
  • Complete benefits administration tasks as needed.
  • Support the EHS Department with investigations and compliance efforts.
  • Address and manage team member relations issues fairly, thoroughly, and proactively.
  • Develop and execute workforce and talent management strategies that support our business strategy, i.e. assist with the creation and execution of action plans to develop leaders and key talent in the organization.
  • Provide site training for all team members in required HR training areas.
  • Collaborate with managers to resolve everyday issues and develop short- and long-term HR strategies and solutions designed to achieve optimal departmental performance and organizational effectiveness.
  • Coordinate team member engagement activities.
  • Complete HR administrative tasks as necessary.
  • Ability to travel to other locations on an occasional basis required.

Qualifications

Key Qualifications/Requirements/Education

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Human Resources Manager or Business Partner required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Labor Relations, Business Administration or equivalent degree required.
  • Experience working with labor unions highly preferred.
  • Human Resources accredited certification such as HRCI or SHRM preferred.
  • Experience supporting a multisite manufacturing organization preferred.
  • Experience in the area of benefits administration preferred.
  • Experience working with LEAN manufacturing principles and applying them to HR strategy a plus.
  • Must have proven experience working as a business partner with or as a member of a site management team.
  • A true hands-on approach as well as the ability to successfully monitor the "pulse" of the workforce to ensure a high level of team member engagement.
  • Strong influencing and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage competing, high priority demands, prioritizing workload, managing projects and multiple responsibilities against strict deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and be part of a team environment while developing highly effective and valued professional relationships with peers, colleagues, and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential situations with objectivity, candor, and confidence.
  • Has heightened self-awareness / emotional intelligence.
  • Strong business acumen and an understanding of fundamental business financial drivers.
  • Experience handling multiple projects simultaneously and working in an environment which requires flexibility.
  • Experience delivering effective presentations to a variety of audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS.
