In this newly created role, the Marketing and Communication Manager will be a hands-on leader with both strategic and tactical responsibilities across all of our business units. This position will lead, teach and mentor our business units through the development, planning and implementation of marketing and communication plans, strategies and collateral across all media platforms to drive business results.

MAIN JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Work with subsidiary management teams to develop and drive marketing and communication initiatives that effectively describe and promote the organization to new and existing markets.   

  • Manage the planning, development and implementation of business unit marketing communication plans and programs that help accomplish business and marketing plans.
  • Ensure all communications touch points align with business unit and brand strategies and all messaging is appropriate and consistent across mediums and portfolios.
  •  Provide strategic counsel to Sales and other internal clients to ensure appropriate messaging by customer and market business unit.
  • Develop and implement new and existing market business unit strategy within a 2-to-4-year timeframe of impact. Work with Sales and Management to define business opportunities for pursuit. 
  • Provide a Marketing Plan (by business unit) that provides direction, goals, and tactics for pursuing new opportunities.
  • Use market analysis / research to justify your ROI business plan, direction, and goals. 
  • Work with sales leadership and sales professionals to target new prospects or opportunities based on market trends and defined value propositions.
  • Manage the day-to-day relationship with any external communications agency team for a particular business unit, ensuring timely interaction and follow through.
  • Develops and manages company web site strategy, functionality, enhancements, and usability – manages content and image updates, additions and changes.
  • Plans, designs, and implements annual print/online advertising campaign within assigned budget limitations.
  • Filters of all web site leads, provides details to appropriate salesperson for follow-up in a timely matter – generate monthly analysis of leads generated including, sample data analysis, web leads, web advertising campaign hits.
  • Manage the production, inventory and distribution of marketing materials.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for agency, trade associations, industry groups, partner companies, and all marketing and promotion suppliers.
  • Manage the copy approval process for all marketing materials.
  • Develop appropriate metrics related to marketing communications programs to measure effectiveness.
  • Ensure logistics and communications initiatives for trade shows, customer meetings, and internal meetings are developed and implemented effectively.
  • Manages creation, production and distribution of technical publications to trade magazine editors.
  • Facilitate cross-functional team discussions for developing and implementing communications strategies that maximize growth.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Education: Bachelors required in Marketing, Communications or business preferred; MBA preferred
  • A minimum of 5 years of related marketing communications experience within a manufacturing company. Experience within an MRO company desired.
  • Demonstrated experience managing a companies online reputation, websites, social media presence and brand strategies.
  • Demonstrated experience in building and scaling marketing and communication plans, programs and processes.
  • Must demonstrate excellent marketing communications skills and knowledge.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in developing and executing business unit and brand communications strategies, programs and tactics that consistently and effectively deliver messages across brands and customer business units in support of overall business plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a team player; organize and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced, changing environment; and perform well and delivery high-quality under deadline.
  • Strong technical marketing background or experience, preferably in the area of industrial equipment preferred.
  • Ability to utilize a variety of research methods to question, hypothesize, and confirm expected new market business unit / new product opportunities preferred.
