Job Description

Electromechanical technicians will repair, PM, Calibrate, and Install Electrical/electronic industrial manufacturing systems. They may start with a trouble phone call, to diagnose the severity of the problem on the equipment.  Then can be dispatched to the customer facility to repair equipment to factory specifications.  While on-site, the technician will need to operate equipment and use test equipment to find problems and repair, then fully test, to allow production to resume.  Tech will need to know:

  • All Safety aspects of equipment and plant safety & GMP rules.
  • Process flow and operation of the equipment.
  • Ability to read, understand, and troubleshoot from P&ID and electrical schematics.
  • Use test equipment such as: Multimeter, Process loop calibration equipment, and related software.
  • Basic PLC connection, troubleshooting with ladder logic.
  • Pneumatic systems repair: Solenoid air valves, pressure controller with feedback, control valve with positioner setup & calibration.
  • Mechanical abilities, using tools to complete: Rebuilding simple spring return air actuated butterfly valves, pressure regulators, and centrifugal pump seals.

Technicians could have a minimum of 120 days of travel each year.  The longest duration of the trip from home is approximately 12 days. Most PM service is 3-4 days.  Good communication and interpersonal skills needed to have excellent customer service with the customer.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge and use of Multi-meters on AC 3phase circuits, DC, and Analog control circuits. Use of process loop portion of meter for troubleshooting and calibrating. 
  • PLC troubleshooting: Connection of laptop to PLC and ethernet devices using Rockwell software, Reading and understanding of ladder logic to diagnose problems with equipment.  Ability to make changes to the ladder if needed. 
  • Control Valves:  Setup and Calibration of spring return air actuated control valves that use positioners.  Calibration with system flow based on recipes to ensure the customer is running on multiple different products.
  • Basic good mechanical ability to remove butterfly valves, disassembly, clean, rebuild, test, and reinstall.   Also, occasional centrifugal pump mechanical seal replacement is needed.
  • Ability to learn quickly, great troubleshooting technics, and a positive attitude.
