Job Description

Shift: 1st Shift (6:30am-5pm) Monday-Friday weekend overtime as needed

Pay: $36.00 per hour

Purpose

Responsible for maintenance and repair of all equipment, the physical plant, and designing and maintaining preventative maintenance program.  In this role the person must maintain a safe and positive workplace that fosters positive employee relations that builds strong team cohesion within the group to drive continuous improvements in the areas of safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

Responsibilities

  • Starts devise to test their performance.
  • Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
  • Dismantles and repairs mechanical and electrical devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Inspects parts to determine salvage ability or method of repairing or reworking parts.
  • Prepares and operates metalworking tools, such as engine lathes, milling, drilling, grinding, polishing, and buffing machines to repair parts.
  • Files, taps, reams, bends, straightens, or uses other methods to recondition parts, using hand tools.
  • Verifies dimensions and tolerances, using blueprints, scale, and precision-measuring instruments.
  • Initiate purchase orders for parts and machines.
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments, using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straight edges.
  • Lubricates and cleans parts.
  • Maintain preventative maintenance records for machinery and equipment.
  • Maintains physical plant.
  • Directs work of in-house maintenance personnel and contract repair personnel.

Qualifications

  • Must have demonstrated experience as a leader in industrial safety practices including LOTOV (Lockout, tag out, verify), working at heights, confined spaces, and overseeing on-site contractors.  
  • Able to perform inspections, adjustments, and replacement of wipers, gibs, and ball screws.
  • Able to use CNC machine controller (Fanuc) to troubleshoot machine faults, set backlash, and set zero reference positions.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing faults with machine PLC’s, drives, power supplies, and amplifiers.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing machine hydraulic and lube systems.
  • Proficiency in 3-phase motors and controls including VFD’s (variable frequency drives)
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing AC and DC control power circuits (machine inputs and outputs)
  • Proficient in troubleshooting the 480VAC side of the main switchgear and disconnects for machine power distribution.
  • Experience leading projects to improve machine safety, capability, and performance.    
  • Able to disassemble and assemble machine components.
    • General machine repair
    • Heads stocks/gearboxes
    • Spindle / bearing.
    • Machine leveling and aligning.
  • Able to use CMMS (computer maintenance management system) for work orders and parts
  • Able to read and understand machine drawing.
    • Hydraulic / lube / coolant
    • Electrical one line
    • Machine electrical
    • Machine assembly and subassembly mechanical drawing
  • Able to use micrometers to accurately measure sample parts and to then draw accurate sketches of special replacement parts that requiring to be manufactured in-house or manufactured by an outside contractor.
  • AC and DC crane experience is a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Position requires the physical strength and ability to safely perform the required duties, which involve moderate to heavy physical exertion. 
  • Must also be able to stoop, bend, twist and climb up onto the overhead cranes and other equipment while also being able to work in tight spaces.
  • Must be able to perform assigned maintenance duties in adverse weather.
