Job Description

Position Purpose:

 The Plant Controller will be responsible for maintaining the daily accounting functions, ensuring the accuracy of the financial statements, partnering with operational management to provide timely and meaningful analytical information, and supporting company initiatives.  This position will report directly to the VP of Accounting.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead month-end close procedures including preparation and/or review of journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Responsible for reporting to corporate accounting, finance and control departments.
  • Reach understanding of financial closing data and communicate a meaningful summarization to key business partners.
  • Prepare monthly variance and profitability reports with analysis on items over established thresholds and work with management on corrective actions.
  • Develop and automate margin and cost analysis that provide meaningful actionable results.
  • Partner with management to determine, create and monitor key performance indicators.
  • Implement inventory control and management best practices.
  • Assist with preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly and yearly forecasts and budgets.
  • Fulfill internal and external audit requests.
  • Responsible for understanding and implementing all accounting policies/procedures.
  • Partner with operations and internal control departments to identify high risk processes and insure there are effective and efficient controls supporting these processes.
  • Special projects as needed.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • 10+ years of accounting experience with 8+ in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong cost accounting background
  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP
  • Strong analytical and deductive reasoning skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, both written and verbal
  • Team-oriented with a focus on customer service
  • Adaptable and flexible to change
  • Strong accounting and operation ERP knowledge
  • Experience with Microsoft suite of products with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
