Job Description

The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the overall objectives of the department by applying appropriate accounting principles to transactions, reconciling, and analyzing accounts, maintaining appropriate accounting records, and supporting the business unit.

Responsibilities:

  • Timely and accurate processing of financial transactions
  • Prepare and maintain adequate support for all transactions and journal entries
  • Participate in monthly G/L closing, preparing journal entries as required
  • Reconciliation of General Ledger accounts at month-end
  • Participate in monthly financial analysis and reporting
  • Participate in the annual Physical inventory or Cycle Counting process
  • Assist with the annual audit by external public accounting firm
  • Perform reviews of sales and gross profit for completeness and accuracy
  • Calculation and filing of sales and use taxes
  • Focus on continuous improvement of work with additional attention on reducing and eliminating waste
  • Special projects as needed

Qualifications

Essential skills and experiences you must bring to the table:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 1-2 years previous experience
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office/computer skills, especially Excel (pivot tables and look up functions)
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment a plus
