Job Description

  • Produce high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience
  • Create, maintain and update equipment manuals, procedures, specifications and other documents
  • Write content for, business requirements, standard operating procedures, specifications, requests for proposals, and other documents.
  • Create, maintain and update installation instructions, training material and other technical documents
  • Look up all internal document references in respective document repositories and validate documents are active and not cancelled; annotate in the technical document those references with cancelled status and any replacement information for engineer validation.
  • Proactively gather required information through research, statistical reports, and interviews with technical staff. This includes attending meetings and following projects as required to gain an understanding of the subject matter.
  • Gathering and analyzing technical information, and translating that information into clear and articulate documentation and presentations to be used by technical and non-technical personnel
  • Optimizing the quality and usability of the documentation/presentations through the use of graphics and other formatting/style enhancements
  • Perform document control tasks, such as setting up and maintaining file structures and file sharing sites
  • Ensure all produced materials are properly versioned and stored in appropriate locations.
  • Manage deliverables with varying priorities and deadlines
  • Maintain a comprehensive library of technical terminology and documentation
  • Create and maintain the information architecture
  • Take ownership of projects and manage stakeholder expectations while achieving business goals
  • Standardize content across platforms and media
  • Work with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product and the documentation requirements
  • Review, revise, modify or edit documents prepared by others
  • Write technical documents in compliance to the company’s established standards and guidelines
  • Evaluate and recommend revisions to standards and guidelines
  • Provide writing, editing and design support to other team members
  • Analyze existing and potential content, focusing on reuse and single-sourcing opportunities
  • Create tutorials to help end-users use a variety of applications
  • Gather usability feedback from customers, designers, and manufacturers
  • Participate in peer edits and contribute to further developing documentation styles and standards
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical writing, journalism, communications or related field
  • 1-5 years of experience technical writing and/or market communication materials
  • Proven working experience in technical writing of equipment or part documentation
  • Experience developing written procedures, user manuals, or training manuals preferred
  • Experience with proofreading and editing
  • Proficiency in the following applications: MS Office, Adobe Acrobat
  • Microsoft SharePoint experience a plus
