Job Description

The Mechanical Designer will work with our team of Engineers and Designers to develop detailed designs and drawings for our Beverage related machine production change parts. The Mechanical Designer will develop innovative designs that will be produced using a variety of machinery and tooling. They area also responsible for creating detailed manufacturing drawings that indicate dimensions, fastening methods, and other requirements needed for both fabrication and assembly.

  • Design and develop parts and assemblies using SolidWorks.
  • Use SolidWorks to create models, fabrications drawings, assembly drawings, cut sheets, and DXF's for manufacturing of beverage handling components.
  • Work from pre-production/conceptual or existing AutoCAD drawings and specifications created by engineers.
  • Design products using knowledge of various manufacturing techniques.
  • Specify dimensions, materials, and procedures for new products.
  • Create Standard Operating Procedures for manufacturing and assembly.
  • Design assembly and weld fixtures for manufacturing and assembly.
  • Create Bills Of Materials for repeatable production assemblies.
  • Will generally work under the direction of a design engineer, with appropriate levels of oversight depending on design complexity.
  • Prepares CAD layouts and drawings to support project needs and is responsible for accurate documentation of all assigned work.
  • Responsible for development of concept design geometry for new machines, Parts and subsystems. Prepares options for peer group review and communicates concept function effectively.
  • Create Standard Operating Procedures for manufacturing and assembly.
  • Responsible for development of detail design geometry (parts and layouts) for handling component parts on machines and subsystems. Updates/Maintains design throughout development project. Maintains CAD database for review, analysis, and release.
  • Responsible for creation and accuracy of engineering drawings and BOMs.
  • Works with development partners (marketing, service, manufacturing, and procurement) to develop components that meet needs of all stakeholders while maintaining low costs.
  • Maintains and develops knowledge of state-of-the-art design, fabrication techniques and components and works with partners to integrate these techniques into Bevcorp’s new designs where appropriate.
  • Supports engineering activities (analysis, lab testing, customer test, root cause problem solving) as requested.
  • Coordinates the construction and evaluation of prototype designs, with assistance from appropriate partners
  • Creates design changes, specifications, drawing releases and documentation as required as part of the Engineering Change Order (ECO) process.
  • Converts legacy drawings from various sources into Solidworks
  • Reengineer parts from 3D scan into finished Solidworks releases
  • Responsible for understanding and executing Bevcorp’s engineering documentation system for product release and product changes.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Associate’s Degree in a related discipline preferred, but candidates with applicable work experience in lieu will be considered. 
  • Bachelor’s in and Engineering discipline preferred.
  • Working knowledge of standard drafting procedures preferred.
  • Five or more years of experience using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • Experience designing sheet metal and machined parts using SolidWorks.
  • Experience designing weldments in SolidWorks.
  • SolidWorks PDM and PDM ADMIN experience preferred.
  • CSWP, CSWPA-SM, or other certifications helpful.
  • Experience creating product drawings.
  • Extensive knowledge of metal fabrication processes preferred Experience and strong working knowledge in Geometric Tolerance and Dimensioning.
  • CSWP, CSWPA-SM, or other certifications helpful.
  • Experience creating product drawings.

PERSONAL SKILLS

  • Mechanical Design utilizing CAD tools, AutoCAD a must, SolidWorks 
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Proficient working on multiple projects/tasks simultaneously
  • Solid computer skills with a variety of software tools including Microsoft Office products
