Job Description

  • Mechanical Design of new/modified industrial packaging machinery
  • Reverse engineering of machine parts
  • Manage Research and Development projects for filling and packaging technology
  • Value Engineering of existing product offerings
  • Work on a team with a Mechanical Designer, check drawings and models for accuracy
  • Support to Production and Assembly departments
  • Support for field audits, equipment startups, and new product testing
  • Bill of Material and Part creation/management
  • Customer Service Support
  • Cost/Time Estimation of projects
  • Support to Technical Writer for catalog/manual development
  • Procedure and Process Improvement
  • Authoring of Engineering documentation
  • Design and develop parts and assemblies using SolidWorks
  • Use SolidWorks to create models, fabrications drawings, assembly drawings, cut sheets, and DXF's for manufacturing
  • Develop functional specifications and computations required for designers
  • Maintain and utilize knowledge of various manufacturing techniques
  • Finite Element Analysis
  • Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis
  • Specify dimensions, materials, and procedures for new products
  • Specify materials and finishes required
  • Create Standard Operating Procedures for manufacturing and assembly
  • Design assembly and weld fixtures for manufacturing and assembly
  • Provide direction to designers, with appropriate levels of oversight depending on design complexity.
  • Prepares CAD layouts and drawings to support project needs and is responsible for accurate documentation of all assigned work.
  • Responsible for development of concept design geometry for new machines, Parts and subsystems. Prepares options for peer group review and communicates concept function effectively.
  • Create Standard Operating Procedures for manufacturing and assembly
  • Responsible for development of detail design geometry (parts and layouts) for new machines and subsystems. Updates/Maintains design throughout development project. Maintains CAD database for review, analysis, and release.
  • Responsible for creation, accuracy, release and revision control of engineering drawings and BOMs.
  • Works with development partners (marketing, service, manufacturing, and procurement) to develop products that meet needs of all stakeholders while maintaining profitability.
  • Maintains and develops knowledge of state-of-the-art design, fabrication techniques and components and works with technical partners to integrate these techniques into new designs where appropriate.
  • Develops and supports development of testing and prototyping
  • Coordinates the construction and evaluation of prototype designs, with assistance from appropriate partners
  • The conversion of legacy designs from AutoCAD to Solidworks
  • Standardization of existing product offerings to remove configuration variations and speed up production
  • Creates design changes, specifications, drawing releases and documentation as required as part of the Engineering Change Order (ECO) process.
  • Responsible for understanding and executing Bevcorp’s engineering documentation system for product release and product changes.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or 5+ Years Machine Design or Equivalent Experience
  • Demonstrated Advanced AutoCAD Mechanical or SolidWorks skills
  • Experience in a structured new product development environment
  • Able to identify problems and develop solutions
  • Experience working with variety of different materials including Polycarbonates, Stainless Steel, Rubbers, etc.
  • Knowledge of fluid dynamics
  • Design for cost effectiveness and manufacturability
  • Design of Industrial machinery, preferably beverage/packaging equipment
  • SolidWorks PDM and PDM ADMIN experience preferred
  • Travel 0-10%

PERSONAL SKILLS

  • Mechanical Design utilizing CAD tools, AutoCAD a must, SolidWorks 
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong Sense of Urgency
  • Proficient working on multiple projects/tasks simultaneously
  • Solid computer skills with a variety of software tools including Microsoft Office products
  • Good verbal/written/technical communication
  • Strong creativity and problem solving skills
